Cool autumn weather is finally here, and it's a great time to get out and about. After a whole summer of heat, this sudden coolness has me craving warm broth.

So while thinking 'what kind of soup should I get?', spicy-style udon popped straight into my head haha. So I went to warm myself up without any fuss at this udon restaurant near Seokchon Gobun Station — Haengbokhan Udon Gage Seokchon Lake Branch.

Haengbokhan Udon Gage near Seokchon Gobun Station: open 24 hours, even at dawn
Haengbokhan Udon Gage Seokchon Lake Branch is at 90 Samhaksa-ro, 1F, Songpa-gu, Seoul, and it's open 24 hours. The sign alone gives off strong old-school vibes, which got my expectations up right away. Since it's open around the clock, it seems like a great spot for a late-night or early-morning visit.

Inside Haengbokhan Udon Gage: seating for solo diners and families
The interior of Haengbokhan Udon Gage Seokchon Lake Branch has a wood-and-white tone, quite different from the retro exterior. Maybe because of the subtly classy feel, the vibe is nice enough that couples and families of all kinds were coming in! I guess that means anyone can visit and leave satisfied.
The inside is spacious with big tables, so you can eat comfortably without feeling cramped! I noticed a few solo diners too, so if you're looking for a solo-dining spot near Seokchon Gobun Station, this could be a good choice.

The wall-side tables in particular are slightly partitioned off and noticeably spacious, which looked great for visiting with kids! I actually spotted a family with a child there that day, and everyone looked comfortable :)

*Baby chairs are available too.

Menu and prices: udon from 8,000 won, ordered by tablet
Every table has a tablet, so you can order comfortably. The menu is split into meals and drinking snacks — since I came for lunch, I mostly looked at the meal section. Dishes like fish cake udon can also be made spicy for an extra ₩500!

There were so many meal options that it took a while to decide haha. Choosing delicious food is always fun though! It's mostly udon, donkatsu (pork cutlet), and rice bowls, priced from ₩8,000 to 11,900, so the value is really great! These days it's hard to find food under ₩10,000, ugh — a whole bowl of udon for ₩8,000!

With a full lineup of meals and drinking snacks at such reasonable prices, Haengbokhan Udon Gage Seokchon Lake Branch seems like the kind of place that always leaves you satisfied 😌 Maybe thanks to that, more than half the seats were filled from the moment I walked in until I left.
*Right now, if you participate in the Naver review event, you can get a free honey tomato, a drink, soju, or beer — don't miss out on the perk!

What we ordered: spicy chili udon, jeyuk deopbap and mandu
Out of the many options, today's picks were⭐️ spicy udon, jeyuk deopbap, mandu (dumplings), and zero-sugar cola. Sides and a drink for under ₩30,000 — total bargain!

All the dishes we ordered were served, but the one that caught my eye right away was the spicy udon.

Spicy chili udon: sharp broth and old-style yellow noodles
Piled high with ssukgat (crown daisy greens), fried tofu, and seaweed flakes, along with vivid green cheongyang chili and red dadaegi (chili paste condiment) — it's mouthwatering just looking at it!💦
Once you stir the seasoning well into the broth and take a slurp, the sharp kick of cheongyang chili🌶️ blends with the deep flavor of the dadaegi, and a refreshing, tangy flavor spreads through your mouth.

Instead of the white udon noodles you see everywhere these days, these are old-style yellow noodles, chewy and delicious. The portion was just right for one person!
Jeyuk deopbap: smoky pork served in a tin pot
For anyone who feels udon alone isn't enough, I'd recommend the jeyuk deopbap.
Served in a yangeun pot (galvanized steel pot, true old-school vibe), the jeyuk deopbap gave off a spicy, smoky aroma the moment it arrived that really stirred up my appetite. They also give you broth on the side, so no worries about it feeling too dry!
The pork, well coated in sweet-spicy sauce, mixed with sliced onion and seaweed flakes over white rice — one bite in and wow, my mouth was full of smoky pork flavor and deep spiciness. It's a totally different charm from the spicy udon, giving a satisfying, hearty feeling. I'd recommend ordering both dishes together — sharing it with my boyfriend was perfect!

Boiled mandu: dip the dumplings in the udon broth
The best side dish to enjoy alongside your meal has got to be the mandu (boiled dumplings)!

Bite-sized, moist boiled dumplings come topped with toasted sesame seeds and seaweed flakes, and dipping them lightly in the soy sauce provided gives you that nostalgic taste!

I kept dipping mine into the udon broth in between bites, and it was so good haha — a method I'd recommend!

Here's a tip: there's chili powder at the self-service corner, so sprinkle some into the soy sauce for the dumplings!
