My first poke at Terra Tower in Munjeong-dong

Since starting university and living on my own, making sure I eat proper meals every time has become one of my biggest concerns. I kept getting by on delivery food or convenience meals every day, and I always felt like I was lacking fresh vegetables and a variety of nutrients.

So this time, determined to load up on good-for-you nutrients, I visited Olla Poke Munjeong Main Branch (올라포케 문정본점), a poke specialist in Munjeong-dong. I personally like Munjeong-dong because every time I visit, its streets feel clean while the outdoor drinking spots give it an energetic vibe, too.

This spot was in Munjeong-dong, so it was easy to reach by public transportation. Since it was my first time at Terra Tower, though, it felt a little like a maze.

The clean, fresh-looking interior stood out right from the storefront. As I have become more interested in healthy eating, I had learned about poke, and this felt like a great place to give it a try.

Solo seats, group tables, and thoughtful extras

As you would expect in Munjeong, where there are lots of office workers, there was space for solo diners as well as group tables for eating with others.

The solo seats face the wall, making them even more comfortable for eating alone.

Soy sauce to drizzle on according to your taste, along with napkins, wet wipes, and cups, were provided.

They even offered two kinds of water.

Steak poke and the recommended sauce

There was such a wide range of menu options, but I ordered the steak poke (₩14,500), which seemed like the least divisive choice, plus a Pepsi Zero. They use special low-sodium, low-sugar sauces for people dieting or managing their meals, and you can freely choose a base such as brown rice or buckwheat noodles. It was my first time having poke, so I did not know how to eat it, but the recommended sauces were all laid out for me, which made it easy.

Out came a poke bowl made up of such colorful ingredients. My order was prepared quickly after I placed it, so I could see why office workers with short lunch breaks like this place.

They say it is scientifically designed with protein, fat, complex carbohydrates, and dietary fiber, and it honestly felt healthy just eating it. I tend to think health and flavor are inversely related, but the ingredients were easy to enjoy without any resistance.

I am quite sensitive to chewy meat, but the steak was not tough at all and had a lovely aroma. At first, I wondered whether I would be full from eating all these vegetables, but with oats and brown rice as well, it was more than filling enough for one adult man. It also felt easy to digest.

They even have mouthwash ready, so you can rinse your mouth refreshingly on your way out after your meal.

It was my first poke experience, but the detailed guide helped me enjoy it so deliciously. From the comfortable space for eating alone and nutrient-packed menu to the perfect finishing touch, I was satisfied with everything.
