Songpa Korean BBQ with minari sauce: Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang

In short

Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Garak Flagship is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Songpa, Seoul, serving Korean beef intestines with house-made kimchi. After a 30-minute weekday-evening wait, the writer had three portions of gopchang and yangbap for 66,000 won. Verdict: order generously from the start for the fragrant, sweet-tangy minari sauce and richly filled gopchang.

For everyone who loves beef intestines, I want to introduce a life-changing favorite. I’ve honestly been back at least ten times, and this is my true go-to spot—already famous as a great restaurant too! It’s Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang in Garak-dong. There are three Seoul locations in Jamsil, Sindang, and Garak-dong, but personally, I thought the Garak-dong one was the best.

Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Garak Flagship is a five-minute walk from Exit 4 of Garak Market Station. If you drive, you can park free in the building for two hours. There’s always a wait here! I waited 30 minutes on a weekday evening today, but once you take a bite, even 30 minutes does not feel like a waste.

Information on Korean green-onion kimchi for sale

This place is also known for its house-made kimchi, and it is seriously, genuinely delicious. They even sell it like this. The green-onion kimchi is made entirely with Korean ingredients—so good.

My favorite, Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang, has already won over so many palates and has appeared on several TV programs, including Live Info Show, Live Tonight, and Live Today.

In the evening, turnover can be a little slower since people tend to have drinks, but there are plenty of seats, so the line does move fairly quickly. As soon as you sit down, they set out the side dishes.

We ordered three portions of hanwoo gopchang, and seriously, the staff are so good at their jobs. Everything is quick, quick.

Everyone, here’s the best ordering tip: order more than you think you need. If two of you come, do not order just two portions—make it three. Otherwise, the flow gets interrupted. Two portions for two people are absolutely not enough.

This is truly one of my all-time favorite restaurants, and because you never get tired of it, you end up eating more than usual. Definitely order extra from the beginning.

House-made kimchi and minari sauce

They bring out three kinds of house-made kimchi here: green-onion kimchi, young-radish kimchi, and mustard-leaf kimchi. They are fermented so deliciously, and grilling them in the gopchang fat is just a perfect harmony~ I love kimchi, but I’m usually the type not to eat it at restaurants. Here, though, it is delicious enough to eat with confidence, and you can trust the ingredients.

Places where you can enjoy top-quality Korean beef and house-made kimchi like this are not common, right? This is honestly one of my real favorites. And this buchu-muchim (seasoned garlic chives), mixed to order, was so delicious grilled too. I just love everything here.

The biggest reason I love it is this sauce. It is packed with minari (water celery), so it is fragrant as well as sweet and tangy. I think it completely cuts through the richness of the gopchang and makes it even more delicious.

Before the gopchang is cooked, a basic steamed egg comes out first. It was fluffy and soft, perfect for waking up the appetite.

Hanwoo gopchang filled with rich fat

Can you see how full the gopchang is with rich fat? The intestines were so clean, too.

And really, the gopchang here is packed full of that rich filling.

Nutty hanwoo gopchang

At truly bad places, you cannot tell whether you are eating gopchang or rubber, right? This place is pure nutty richness.

Grilling hanwoo gopchang

Seriously, this is a place that makes me gasp every time I eat here. It tastes out of this world.

The yangbap everyone orders

For meal dishes, there are yangbap and anchovy noodles, so we ordered the yangbap. Every table had it, you know? Once you take a bite, you understand why everyone orders it. Because it is simply delicious. Everyone orders it because it is simply delicious, I guess,, When you actually try it, it is just delicious,,

Honestly, the gopchang, the yangbap—everything was delicious at my all-time favorite, Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Garak Flagship. I really want to recommend it if you come to Garak-dong, and if you love beef intestines, you absolutely have to visit. You will immediately understand why I praise it this much.
