Spending a day in Seongsu, everyone said I had to eat something hip too~ so while searching around I ended up at this burger place I'd already saved to my list ages ago. I was curious about it, and since it was one of those days I was seriously craving a burger, I headed straight there without a second thought.

Where is Bored & Hungry Seongsu, and what are its hours?

Bored & Hungry Seongsu is on the 1st floor of 32 Seongsuiro18-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. It's convenient if you use Exit 3 of Seongsu Station, and it's a little removed from the main bustling strip.

The entrance was radiating pure hip energy!!! Even a mural for our eyes to enjoy was waiting to greet us.

True to a popular burger spot, there was even a waiting registration kiosk.

Inside Bored & Hungry Seongsu: murals, merch and service

Even though Bored & Hungry Seongsu only has the 1st floor, the space was so wide that it felt really open, with a variety of tables for 1 to 4 people. It felt like they'd taken every color in the world and dumped them all into this one restaurant, haha.

Right as you walk in, there's a merch corner on the right selling goods. Across from the merch space, there was also a waiting area set up.

And as we walked in and got seated, I really felt the staff's genuine care and attitude — they paid close, detailed attention to every single customer and clearly worked hard to make us comfortable. Whenever we needed help they jumped in proactively, and looked out for anything that might inconvenience us, all with kindness on top ㅜㅜ (I especially got the feeling the owner has a special love for this place).

How table-tag phone ordering works

Bored & Hungry Seongsu has a really unique ordering system. If you place your unlocked phone on the tag sticker attached to your table, it automatically connects you to the live online order site (magic!). Since your order is matched to your table number and paid for that way, once you finish ordering you just wait and the food is brought right to your seat. Next to it there's also a simple how-to guide for the store and a Wi-Fi QR code.

There are combos as well as à la carte items, so you can choose and add sides and drinks. It might be hard to read from a photo, but here's the menu board posted in the store for you :) You'll probably find it's simple to order once you're actually using the online order form!!

Water station, unlimited soda and the self-serve zone

They really thoughtfully set up a sink and hand dryer so you could take care of hygiene, plus a mirror so you can check yourself out(?)...!!!!! Right next to it there was also a water station you could use freely.

And if you order a drink, there's a soda machine where you can enjoy as much as you like, however you like (a restaurant with free refills in this day and age?!)

There's also a self-serve zone with wet wipes, hot sauce, ketchup, cutlery, and gloves~ and individual napkins were stacked at every table for you to grab. (I asked where the tissues were and couldn't find them for the longest time until I got walked right up to it, haha — that square box with the monkey drawing in the first photo, that's it.)

What we ordered: Mega Bun combo and Shrimp O.G. burger combo

Ta-da~! What we ordered was the Mega Bun combo (single patty, added fries, choice of drink) and the Shrimp O.G. burger combo (added corn ribs, added vanilla shake). True to an American-style burger, they had an amazing visual presence~? Apparently even Snoop Dogg tried this burger and fell for it (well.. no wonder).

Shrimp O.G. burger: a thick shrimp patty

My pick was the Shrimp O.G. burger, partly because I love shrimp so much and partly because it was marked [best] on the order screen, so I chose it without hesitation!! As you can see in the photo, the shrimp patty is seriously; thick, so it's incredibly filling. The sweet sauce inside the burger gave a deep richness that filled my whole mouth, and eating it with the sauce they gave on the side brought out yet another layer of savoriness that paired amazingly with the thick patty ㅜㅜ. The burger looks hearty in photos too, but eating it in person, every bite made me happy — the texture was really good. Since the patty was so thick, there was a ton of shrimp packed in, and I got the feeling they spare no expense on the food.

Mega Bun: thin buns with a salty beef patty

My companion's pick was the Mega Bun, seemingly because they liked the thick meat patty stacked on the thin buns, haha. I tried a few bites too, and it had that distinctly American salty patty flavor — it felt exactly like the kind of burger you'd get in America!! (never been there though). The melted cheese from the heat of the meat patty gave off a nice aroma, and since the bun was thin, it didn't feel excessive even without vegetables.

When we poured out the fries, this cute(?) monster(?) monkey appeared. The fries were also a good size and properly seasoned, making the perfect sidekick to the burger.

Corn ribs and vanilla shake at Bored & Hungry Seongsu

The corn ribs were also marked [best], and since I'd never had corn ribs alongside a burger before, I ordered them out of curiosity — and it was an excellent choice ♡. The sweet-spicy powder sauce was carefully sprinkled all over, so every bite was delicious, and best of all, usually when you eat corn ribs the kernels get mushed up and awkwardly stuck, but these popped right out cleanly and were so easy to eat!! (How on earth did they cook these..?) They had a different appeal from the fries and paired well with the burger — I'd definitely recommend trying them~!

Lastly, the milkshake made me think, this is what a real milkshake tastes like!! (not exaggerating). It was sweet and incredibly thick, on a different level of quality from any milkshake I've had before..? And you know dipping fries in a milkshake is the golden rule, right? ~.~ I already love that combo, and with a milkshake this good, it tasted even better.

They clearly take real responsibility for their food.

Return zone after the meal, photo zone on the way out

Once you're done eating, you return your tray to the return zone.

Photo zone set up along the exit path

On the way out, there's a photo zone where you can capture the memory like this ♣. The whole time I was there, I felt like they were making an effort to let you enjoy diverse, generous, delicious food made with fresh ingredients — and I felt this genuine sense of generosity about the food that left me feeling happy the entire visit :)

A place that filled my mouth with happiness, filled my stomach with plenty, and even filled my heart with the warmth of their sincerity —

Bored & Hungry Seongsu

Writing this post made me hungry again, and now I want to just go back to Seoul for a burger, haha.
