Seongsu burger restaurant in Seoul: thick Shrimp O.G.
In short
Bored & Hungry Seongsu is a handmade burger restaurant in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, a 10-minute walk from Exit 3 of Seongsu Station. Over lunch with a friend, the Shrimp O.G. set came with the side swapped for corn ribs, and the patty was so thick and studded with whole shrimp that Bored & Hungry's disposable gloves were the only way to hold it. The bun stayed moist despite the thick patty, and one burger made a genuinely filling meal.

I went out to Seongsu with a friend after a while. There are so many good spots and new places keep popping up, so every time I go I end up debating where to eat. That day too, I was looking for a Seongsu burger place that wouldn't be too heavy but would still feel like a proper meal, when my friend suddenly said there was a really solid spot with a thick shrimp burger. I got hooked the moment I heard that :)

So the place we found was Bored & Hungry! I usually like shrimp burgers and have tried quite a few, but I'd heard this place's patty was especially thick, so I was curious just how thick it would be. Let me start with the location :)

How to get to Bored & Hungry Seongsu, and where to park
It's located on the 1st floor of a building at 32 Seongsuiro 18-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. It's about 668m from Exit 3 of Seongsu Station, roughly a 10-minute walk. Since it's right in the Seongsu street area, dedicated store parking is hard to come by. If you're driving, it's best to use the listed Pungrim Techone parking lot or a nearby public parking lot :)

Personally, the walk from Seongsu Station isn't that far, so I'd recommend visiting by public transit. These days Seongsu is fun to wander through alley by alley, so browsing the surrounding shops on the way there made it feel like I arrived in no time :)

Inside Bored & Hungry Seongsu: hip entrance, roomy dining space
The vibe was distinctive from the moment I reached the entrance. Overall it felt unique and hip, matching well with the kind of aesthetic spaces you often see in Seongsu. Walking in, there were Bored & Hungry goods displayed near the entrance, and further inside the tables lined up in rows :)
I was glad the space was bigger than I expected. When you think of a burger place in Seongsu, you kind of imagine it being cramped with tightly packed tables, but here the interior was open and airy, so we could eat comfortably :)

Bored & Hungry Seongsu menu and QR code ordering
Ordering is done through the QR code at the table, and looking through the menu, there were quite a lot of burger types. From the Shrimp Burger to Classic Cheese, The Mega Bun, Bacon Deluxe, Peanut Bacon, Chipotle Spicy—just from the names, each one seemed to have a distinct personality :)

The side menu wasn't just fries either—there were corn ribs, cheese sticks, corn salad and other things that pair well with a burger. Drinks weren't limited to the regular dispenser options; there were shakes and beer too, so you can pick whatever suits your taste :)

After some thought, I ordered the Shrimp O.G. set plus one extra single burger, and swapped the set's side for corn ribs. It was perfect for two people to each have their own burger and share the side. While waiting for the food, I made a trip to the self-service corner and grabbed plates, forks, knives, and a Tabasco bottle too :)

The Shrimp O.G. burger: just how thick is the shrimp patty?
Before long our food arrived, and the visual alone grabbed my attention right away. The shrimp burger patty in particular was seriously thick. It looked even thicker in person than in photos, to the point I thought, 'how am I supposed to eat this?' At first, conscious of the people around us, I tried cutting it neatly with a knife, but with the patty so thick and the whole thing so tall, this was clearly meant to be eaten with your hands :)

In the end I went back to the self-service corner for gloves. Looking at the patty's makeup, it wasn't just finely ground shrimp meat—there were plump chunks of whole shrimp packed in throughout, so with every bite you could clearly feel that signature springy shrimp texture. After one bite, you really think, 'this is a real shrimp burger' :)
The outside was fried to a nicely crisp finish, so the first bite gave a savory, fried impression, while inside was soft yet springy shrimp meat. When a patty is ground too finely, you lose the bite, but here the shrimp's presence was unmistakable, which I liked even more :)

What I liked most was that the bun was soft. With such a thick patty, buns can sometimes make it hard to swallow and feel like it's getting stuck in your throat. But here the bun itself was moist and soft, so it went down easily. If you love a shrimp burger with a thick patty, I think you'll really like Bored & Hungry :)
Set drinks: the self-serve dispenser cola is the move
When I went to grab the drink included with the set, the dispenser had cola, cider, and Tom's Orange. I went with zero cola. Honestly, I'm not usually a fan of dispenser drinks—compared to canned or bottled ones, they often feel flat or under-carbonated. But weirdly, even the cola here was delicious :)

That sharp, popping carbonation was totally my style! Taking a bite of burger and a sip of cola cleaned my palate perfectly, so I kept reaching for it. I also tried the corn ribs we ordered alongside—cut into long cob-shaped pieces and properly grilled, they looked appetizing right away :)

Why corn ribs are a must-order side, not an option
Even eaten plain, the corn ribs had that sweet, nutty corn flavor, but dipped in the accompanying sauce they turned bold and savory while still keeping the corn's sweetness. If you like bold flavors, I'd recommend pairing it with the sauce :)

Honestly, a single burger usually leaves me feeling like something's missing, but this time one burger alone felt fully satisfying. The patty itself was quite thick, and it was generously packed with shrimp, which was exactly my style. I came on my friend's recommendation, but personally I was really impressed :)

Overall the balance was really good. Next time I'm back in Seongsu, I think I'll come back here. Next time I want to try a different burger besides the Shrimp O.G. Lastly, let me wrap up with the operating hours :)
