Haeundae Chinese restaurant for black-vinegar pork: Bueokgan

In short

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is a Chinese restaurant in Haeundae, Busan, where you can dine by the sea. We ordered poached-egg gan-jjajang, beef jjamppong, and black-vinegar tangsuyuk for 10,000, 12,000, and 28,000 won. Verdict: Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is especially memorable for its not-too-sweet tangsuyuk.

I visited Bueokgan's Western-style restaurant not long ago, and it turns out they have a Chinese restaurant too?! I was out in Haeundae to catch some wind, heard it was a Chinese restaurant with a lovely atmosphere, and went straight there for a delicious meal :)

Parking information for Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch

Parking and the way up to the second floor

There is parking—use The Sharp Adelis shopping arcade parking lot. Tell them you're using the arcade parking lot and the manager will give you a parking ticket; after your meal, get it stamped and take it back! Once you park, come to the building next door. Subyeon Choego Dwaeji Gukbap is on the first floor, and Bueokgan Chinese is right upstairs on the second floor!

Building entrance for Bueokgan Chinese

There is even an elevator marked Bueokgan. The upscale Chinese-restaurant feeling hits you right from the entrance ~~*

I went a little after lunchtime because I was worried there might be a wait, but there were still quite a few diners, including a large group! There is a tablet for joining the waitlist and a hand-washing area right by the entrance, which was great—you do not have to go all the way to the restroom!!!!

A spacious Chinese restaurant where you can dine overlooking the sea

The interior is much bigger than I expected, and the tables are nicely spaced apart too. Disposable aprons are hung around the restaurant, so you do not have to go far to grab one. There are private rooms for a more intimate meal, and window seats where you can eat while looking out at the sea! The rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows too, so you can dine with a sea view there as well. There were guests eating inside, so I could not take photosㅠ.ㅠ

I absolutely loved this view.. I think the owner here is really good at placing lighting. Lighting alone can completely change the atmosphere, and I realized it can make such a difference in a restaurant too.. This is my first time at a Chinese restaurant with such a nice mood.

Ordering poached-egg gan-jjajang and usamgyeop beef jjamppong

We wanted to eat while looking at the sea, so we sat by the window! We ordered suran gan-jjajang (dry-style black bean noodles topped with a poached egg) for 10.0, usamgyeop beef jjamppong (spicy noodle soup with thin-sliced beef belly) for 12.0, and black-vinegar pork tenderloin tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork), small, for 28.0.

Chinese dishes ordered at a window table

They brought us small plates, danmuji (pickled radish), zhacai, and water.

After a short wait, the jjajang and jjamppong came out first. Both have meat in them, and you can see how generous it is just by looking.. Gan-jjajang especially needs plenty of onion, and this one was packed with it.

How silky the poached-egg gan-jjajang was

It was loaded with thick pork belly and onions, with a wonderful bite, and perhaps because of the poached egg, it tasted softer and smoother than the gan-jjajang I usually eat. Break that rich yolk and mix it in—how delicious is that...!!!!

Usamgyeop beef jjamppong full of wok aroma

I was surprised by how much thinly sliced beef belly was in it. It was full of wok aroma, spicy and deeply savory. It is a little hot, so I would recommend it to anyone who likes spicy food!!

Black-vinegar pork tangsuyuk that is not overly sweet

Maybe because the tangsuyuk uses a sauce made with Chinese vinegar, the flavor was deeper and richer. I am not usually a fan of very sweet sauces, but this had just the right sweetness and tartness, so I kept reaching for it. I already love tangsuyuk, and both Bueokgan Chinese's sauce and frying were so well done. Totally agree that this is a great tangsuyuk spot!

The restaurant is spacious and kept so clean; the food was delicious, but I also really loved the feeling of the space itself. It would be wonderful for a date, and it also seemed great for a group get-together. They have weekday lunch specials too, so you can enjoy several dishes for a little less—I think a weekday lunch visit would be nice as well. Every dish—the jjajang, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk—was delicious. Recommend, recommend, recommend Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch!!!!
