Haeundae Chinese restaurant for brisket jjamppong: Bueokgan

My mom, sibling, niece/nephew, and I—the four of us—went to Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch (부엌간 차이니즈 마린시티점), a great Chinese restaurant in Marine City, Haeundae!

I’d heard for ages that it was a Chinese restaurant with a great view, and I finally visited after reserving a window table in the main dining room through Naver, haha.

It had been a while since I’d had a meal with my family, so I headed out full of excitement, hoping to get both good food and a good view.

When we arrived, they checked the reservation name and immediately showed us to an ocean-view window table. They also set out zhacai (pickled mustard stem) and danmuji (pickled yellow radish) neatly, which gave me confidence from the basics alone. My first impression once seated was that it was clean, modern, and more spacious than I expected.

The sea view spread out beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows was so pretty that everyone immediately went, “Wow!” Because the building has a curved layout, the view looked lovely from any of the window-side seats.

My niece/nephew was completely absorbed in looking out the window, and just watching that made my heart feel warm. The staff were also kind and helpful, which made it feel even more comfortable for us with a child.

They even had high chairs, which was great!

There was group seating too, so it looked like a nice place for gatherings.

Chinese dishes ordered for everyone in the family

We ordered poached-egg ganjajang, brisket jjamppong, a small black-vinegar pork tangsuyuk, and a Zero Coke. Looking over the menu, we ordered generously to suit everyone’s tastes.

The poached-egg ganjajang was ₩10,000.

The brisket jjamppong was ₩12,000.

The small black-vinegar pork tangsuyuk was about ₩28,000. It felt reasonably priced for what was included, so I ordered it without much hesitation. There was plenty for four of us to share, and the selection was satisfying, so we all had a really filling meal.

How were the poached-egg ganjajang, brisket jjamppong, and tangsuyuk?

For me, the poached-egg ganjajang was a little on the salty side. Still, it was full of thick pieces of meat and onion, so the texture was definitely good. Eaten with the onion, the seasoning worked nicely too.

The brisket jjamppong was seriously so delicious. Its spicy, smoky broth came with brisket too, and I just kept reaching for another spoonful.

The noodles were pleasantly springy too, and went down so easily with the broth.

The black-vinegar pork tangsuyuk was the day’s most popular dish. It was crisp outside and tender inside, clean-tasting with none of that unpleasant meat smell, and everyone cleared the plate in no time.

The sauce was not overly sweet either, so it was perfect to eat alongside the jajang. My mom especially liked the tangsuyuk most, and it made me happy to watch. My sibling and niece/nephew were busy clearing the plate too, haha.

Taking family photos at the daytime window seat

From a window table, the Marine City sea view unfolds right in front of you, making it such a great spot for photos. Since we went during the day, the sunlight came in beautifully too, and it naturally became a photo spot.

We took photos with my niece/nephew against the window backdrop and got some proper family photos for the first time in ages. I imagine you could see the sunset if you went in the evening, so now I want to come back for dinner too.

A meal that sounds even better in cool weather

With the weather getting cooler lately, a meal at a window table felt especially special. In summer, it would be lovely to eat while enjoying the cool-looking view, while during a change of seasons like now, the warm dishes would be especially nice. It really felt like the perfect season to visit with family when the weather is good.

Because the dishes were served hot, they felt like the kind of menu I’d crave even more as the weather turns chilly.

Parking, reservations, and visitor information

Hours are daily from 11:00 to 22:00, with a break from 15:30 to 17:00. The address is 51 Marine city 3-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan, South Korea, on the second floor of Subyeon Choego Dwaeji Gukbap.

You can use the Adelis Shopping Arcade parking lot. We went in the afternoon and found a space, so it was very convenient. Since we had a reservation, the guidance was quick and we could sit down right away without waiting. It is on the second floor, but there is an elevator, so it would be no trouble at all to bring older family members.

A post-meal walk around Dongbaekseom and The Bay 101

After the meal, it would be really nice to walk around nearby Dongbaekseom and The Bay 101 to help digest. Holding my niece/nephew’s hand and walking in the sea breeze, before we knew it everyone had big smiles on their faces. It was a really nice course for a family outing.

When the weather is good, even one lap around Dongbaekseom is more than enough for both a little exercise and an outing.

It was a meal with the whole family together for the first time in a while, and both the view and food made it such a nice time. Eating while looking at the sea made an ordinary meal feel like a truly special meal out, haha. My mom and sibling both said in unison that they wanted to come again. With convenient parking too, it was a place that felt really easy to visit with older family members.
