Haeundae Korean restaurant for crab and spicy monkfish: Deodo Gejang
In short
Deodo Gejang is a Korean restaurant in Haeundae, Busan, serving Jeju yellow-crab gejang and spicy monkfish-and-octopus stir-fry. My sister and I chose the two-person Aju Bulgogi Gejang set with soy-marinated crab, enjoyed the well-rounded sides and Marine City view, and had a wonderfully unhurried meal. Verdict: a lovely choice for a relaxed crab meal and a chat in Marine City.

Today I’m sharing a Haeundae Marine City restaurant my sister and I visited on a little outing together! I heard it had been getting lots of buzz since it opened, and once I went myself, I could see why everyone liked it haha. It’s Deodo Gejang.

Deodo Gejang’s location and atmosphere
It is within walking distance of Exit 1 of Dongbaek Station, and it was easy to find because it is close to Marine City residential complexes such as Haeundae I’Park and Doosan We’ve the Zenith.
When I walked in, the dining hall was seriously spacious. They say it is over 60 pyeong, so it seemed like there would still be plenty of room even at the lunch rush. I thought it would be perfect for a group gathering or family event, too.
Our table looked out onto the Marine City view, which made the atmosphere even nicer haha. The location really was the best!
Gejang made with Jeju seondong yellow crab

They say this place uses only seondong yellow crabs caught in the clean waters of Jeju. Rather than frozen yellow crabs, they cook them right when an order comes in, and I heard they do not use any seasonings at all.
The sauce is made with red pepper flakes instead of gochujang (Korean red chili paste), so the ingredients’ natural flavor really came through. Hearing that they prepare each crab shell individually also gave me confidence.
Prices are as of the time of my visit and may change.
Aju Bulgogi Gejang set for two, with soy-marinated crab

We ordered the Aju Bulgogi Gejang set for two. It came with spicy stir-fried monkfish and webfoot octopus, and we chose ganjang gejang (soy-marinated raw crab).
The side dishes were really substantial, too. From seaweed soup and bean sprouts to roasted seaweed and maesaengi-jeon (seaweed pancake), every single one was delicious, so I kept reaching for them.

Soy-marinated crab that was savory, not salty
The soy-marinated crab was not salty at all and had just the right savory depth—I finished a whole bowl of rice in no time.
My sister kept saying how delicious it was as she ate, too haha.
We even ordered another bowl of rice to share, and it still did not feel lacking at all.

The bulgogi-style scorched-rice dish with monkfish and webfoot octopus was right up my alley, too! Haha, it was delicious!
A Marine City meal with my sister
It had been a while since my sister and I had sat down for a relaxed meal and a chat together. Eating while looking at the Marine City view made it feel like more than just coming out for a meal—it felt healing.
Next time, I definitely have to come back and try the spicy marinated crab, too!
Proper gejang made with Jeju seondong yellow crab, plus a spacious dining hall and a Marine City view—this Haeundae Marine City spot has it all!
