Mala dongpo pork ramen ordered by number: Menya Seoul, Yongsan
In short
Menya Seoul Yongsan I'Park Mall Branch is a dongpo pork char siu ramen restaurant on the 7th floor food court of I'Park Mall in Yongsan, Seoul. After a pop-up visit, the writer ordered by number — set 5, mala broth dongpo pork (₩18,500), and single 9, spicy jambon (₩10,900) — with no wait for either. Verdict: the mala aroma and springy noodles were satisfying, though the dongpo pork fell apart instead of staying in bite-size pieces and jambon instead of chashu was a small letdown.

Hi hi, this is Se-ttong!
On the evening of Wednesday, September 2nd, I swung by the Pompompurin pop-up and got a sudden ramen craving, so I headed to Menya Seoul Yongsan I'Park Mall Branch, known as a top ramen spot in Yongsan I'Park Mall. It's a dongpo pork char siu ramen restaurant, so I was curious and just went for it.

Is ordering by number really faster?

The 7th floor has a lot of food court restaurants, so you just grab whatever open seat you find.

There was a big sign saying "Ordering by number is faster",

and while the person ahead of me was ordering, I had time to decide, so I just called out my number instead of the full menu name — way easier than saying the whole thing. The food came out fast too!
If you order a set, you get to pick 1 of 3 sides (crispy gyoza, karaage, sweet soy chicken rice bowl) and 1 of 5 drinks (cola, zero cola, cider, Pororo drink, sparkling water), so going with the set instead of a single is a fuller way to enjoy this Yongsan I'Park Mall ramen spot.

The menu has mild broth dongpo pork, spicy broth dongpo pork, and mala broth dongpo pork, and jambon ramen is split into the same three levels — mild, spicy, and mala.

We ordered set 5 for ₩18,500 (mala broth dongpo pork)

and single 9 for ₩10,900 (spicy broth jambon) together. The in-store signage said the dongpo pork is made from 100g of pork belly, the broth is made with 25 ingredients, and it comes with ajitama (marinated soft-boiled egg) aged for 48 hours.
Tasting the dongpo pork and jambon ramen

With set 5's mala broth, the mala aroma rose up strongly the moment I picked it up,

and the noodles stayed springy, keeping their chewiness to the very last bite!

I wish the dongpo pork had been cut into bite-size pieces — I guess it was so tender it just fell apart.

Single 9's spicy broth jambon came with half a boiled egg and a thick slice of jambon sitting on top of the broth — filling enough as a meal on its own.

Personally I think I'd have preferred chashu in place of the jambon, but the jambon's thickness and seasoning were well balanced regardless.

The 3 gyoza we ordered as a side were fried crispy on the outside, and the juices burst out the moment you bit in — great for alternating bites with the ramen broth.
Visit tips and the 1st anniversary coupon event

Inside the restaurant, they were also promoting summer new menu items — king prawn cold ramen at ₩12,900 and whole pork belly mazesoba at ₩11,900 (set ₩16,900). I'm planning to try the cold ramen next time. The staff member who took our order was friendly too, so it was a comfortable meal overall.
As of my visit date, there was a notice for a 1st anniversary thank-you coupon event running from September 3rd to 9th, so if you're heading to this Yongsan I'Park Mall ramen spot during that window, it's worth grabbing the coupon.
