While hunting for good tonkatsu in Yeonsinnae, I visited Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch with my husband! True to its name, it's a place with monster-thick pork cutlets, and I came away really satisfied. It's also a great lunch spot in Yeonsinnae, so if you're nearby and deciding on lunch, this could be a very satisfying choice!

You can dine in, take out, or get delivery here, and since it's a popular tonkatsu spot in Yeonsinnae, there were plenty of both customers and delivery riders around~

The inside of Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch is small but clean, so eating in the restaurant was nice too. There's also bar seating, great for solo diners!! I came with my husband for a date, and there were quite a few solo diners as well~

Ordering the 2-person set: rosu katsu, hire katsu and cold udon

You can order right at the table, and I got the 2-person set with 2 tonkatsu and 1 noodle dish. I chose rosu (loin), hire (fillet), and cold udon~ There's also a 1-person set with 1 tonkatsu and 1 noodle dish, so if you're a solo diner who wants to eat generously, that's a good option too! The tonkatsu is thick and generous in portion, and the noodle dish is hearty too, so you get a really filling spread~

There's salt, wasabi, tonkatsu sauce, and salad dressing too, so you can dress up your cutlet however you like.

The fillet, loin cutlets and cold udon arrived. The salad and rice were generous too, love that. A warm miso-style soup came along as well, and it was delicious. The udon portion was huge too haha~~ We'd definitely be stuffed eating this together.

Rosu katsu (pork loin cutlet): how thick is it really?

Such a thick loin cutlet... it's glowing...!! Rosu katsu is the best... the meat was genuinely, seriously thick. It's been a while since I had tonkatsu this thick, so my heart was fluttering haha

Such a heavy, satisfying piece~ Excited already. I ate it with wasabi and sauce, and it was genuinely delicious. A mouthful of thick meat with crispy breading — great to chew, and the juices burst out. Maybe because the ratio of lean meat to fat was just right, it wasn't too greasy at all, but savory and rich — truly a delicious tonkatsu... and the inside was so moist there wasn't a hint of dryness.

Hire katsu (pork fillet cutlet): crisp outside, tender inside

The hire katsu fillet cutlet was also super thick, so my expectations were high.

Soft, savory, light fillet cutlet with a fantastic thick cut too. Crispy outside, tender inside hire katsu — such happiness. My husband and I split the rosu katsu and hire katsu half and half, and since each has its own charm, they're great to share haha Both are impossible to skip! I want to highly recommend this as a top tonkatsu spot in Yeonsinnae. It'd also be a great pick if you're looking for a solo-dining spot near Yeonsinnae.

How was the cold udon at Katsu Monster?

We shared the cold udon too, and the chewy udon noodles paired nicely with the cool, sweet broth. The combination of tonkatsu and udon worked really well together. Now that the weather's getting chilly, warm udon might be nice to pair with it too~ Warm udon next time!
