Yongsan mall ramen shop: mazesoba sauce in a chicken bowl, Menya Seoul

In short

Menya Seoul Yongsan I'Park Mall Branch is a ramen and rice bowl restaurant on the 7th floor food street of I'Park Mall in Yongsan, Seoul. The order here was the mazesoba and sweet soy chicken rice bowl set: the egg yolk gets popped and mixed through the noodles, then the leftover mazesoba sauce goes into the chicken rice bowl, and the combination works. The mazesoba noodle portion is generous and the set includes rice, so one person can leave completely full.

What to eat on the 7th floor food street of Yongsan I'Park Mall

If you're at Yongsan I'Park Mall wondering "what should I eat today?", there's a great Japanese restaurant on the 7th floor food street. If you want to properly enjoy ramen and rice bowls, I recommend Menya Seoul. Honestly I'm obsessed with mazesoba these days — eating it three times a week — and this place is one of my go-to spots.

Where is Menya Seoul Yongsan I'Park Mall Branch, and what are the hours?

It's located on the 7th floor food street, so it's also a good spot to grab a meal before a movie. The menu is posted on the sign above the store.

Hours are daily 11:00–21:00, with last order at 20:50. The location is directly connected to subway exit 2, so you can get there comfortably regardless of the weather. It's a perfect spot to stop by before or after a movie, or in the middle of shopping — great if you're out for a day trip to Yongsan.

Right outside the store there were food models set up so you could tell exactly what each dish looked like. After thinking it over, I decided to order the set — mazesoba paired with the sweet soy chicken rice bowl.

There were nice explanations of the ramen too — really gave off that hidden-gem feeling.

While waiting for the soba and sweet soy chicken rice bowl, I looked around the area. They hand you a buzzer after you order, so I snapped a photo of it.

Bar tables and food-court seating: is Menya Seoul good for solo dining?

This place has a food-court feel, with bar tables and shared seating, so it works well whether you're eating alone or with a group. The bar seats are close to the kitchen, so you can watch the food being made — and the savory smell made me so hungry!

Wide corridor between shops on the food street

The gaps between shops were wide, so it was easy to look around. Maybe because it's ramen, the turnover was fast and I could grab a seat and start eating quickly.

You need to fetch your own water — there's a dispenser set up, so you just go and pour some. It was a bit disappointing that there were no water bottles, but paper cups are provided, so you go fill up whenever you're thirsty. That said, there's also a handwashing area, which was nice for eating with clean hands.

After looking around and getting my water, my order arrived. The mazesoba came with a big strip of chashu (braised pork belly), zero-sugar cola, and the soy chicken rice bowl.

There was also the standard side dish, pickled radish. The sweet chicken rice bowl had more chicken on top than I expected. The mazesoba had an egg yolk on top, so I popped it and mixed it in right away — it makes the texture creamier and more delicious.

Mixing the leftover mazesoba sauce into the chicken rice bowl

The noodles were moderately spicy and chewy — so good. There's vinegar and chili oil (rayu) on the table, and adding some after a few bites of mazesoba gives you a whole different flavor — I loved it. After finishing, I mixed the leftover mazesoba sauce into the sweet soy chicken rice bowl, and the combination was so good that I'd recommend ordering rice along with your set.

I filmed a video of the dishes too. The mazesoba noodle portion is huge, and since it's a set with rice included, one serving is genuinely enough to leave you completely full.

If you want to enjoy great ramen and rice bowls in one place, I recommend Menya Seoul Yongsan I'Park Mall Branch. The mazesoba and sweet soy chicken rice bowl combo is especially well-suited even for first-time visitors — hard to dislike. If you get hungry before or after a movie, or in the middle of shopping, I recommend Menya Seoul Yongsan I'Park Mall Branch.
