Busan jjamppong restaurant after a 5km run: Songjeong Dol Jjamppong
In short
Songjeong Dol Jjamppong is a stone-plate jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) restaurant on Songjeonggwanggeogol-ro in Haeundae, Busan. After a 5km run along the Mipo railway line from Haeundae to Songjeong Beach, the writer ordered the stone-plate jjamppong set (medium jjamppong plus mini crunch tangsuyuk) with extra octopus and handmade gyoza dumplings, wrapped the dumplings in the self-serve green onion kimchi, and finished with the scorched rice left on the hot stone plate. With a wide parking lot of its own, Songjeong Dol Jjamppong is an easy stop even when the public lot at Songjeong Beach is full.

On the weekend I ran a solid 5km along the Haeundae–Songjeong Beach route and then went to Songjeong for stone-plate jjamppong!
Running along the Mipo Railway while watching the sunset over the water got me exactly 5km to Songjeong Dol Jjamppong. Honestly recommend this as a Haeundae date course too—💓 (Imagine walking hand in hand along the tracks watching the sunset over the beach?! )

Parking at Songjeong Dol Jjamppong when Songjeong Beach is full
The public parking lot at Songjeong Beach is always full whenever I visit, so I usually have to circle around, but Songjeong Dol Jjamppong's lot is genuinely huge, so you can come for jjamppong without any parking stress 🚗🚗💨

Arriving right after the 5pm break: inside the restaurant
The inside was really spacious, with even more seats by the window haha. We showed up right at 5pm and got to sit wherever we wanted! I was surprised how quickly it filled up 👀

When it's full, you can put your name on the CatchTable waitlist at the front, and being able to check the wait time and join the list from the app beforehand is such a great system 👍🏻👍🏻✨

Why Songjeong Dol Jjamppong works with kids and grandparents
They have aprons and baby chairs ready, plus a microwave for baby food and warm barley tea, so this seems like a really good spot for a Busan family meal out with little kids and grandparents haha 💖

This is the basic table setting they give you haha. We ordered the cider separately ✨ 💡Tip: if you write a Naver review, they give you an ade as an event! Jjamppong and jjajangmyeon with a cold ade—need I say more, everyone go try it~💓

The self-serve corner, green onion kimchi included
The self-serve corner has small plates, onion, chunjang, pickled radish, and green onion kimchi!!!!!! (and it's even tasty!!!!!) Jjajangmyeon with green onion kimchi is truly the standard combo... I love you, boss ❤️

Adding octopus and handmade gyoza dumplings to the jjamppong set
I'd heard so many times that the jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) here is also amazing, so I had a legendary internal debate 😵💫😵💫😵💫 Jjajang or jjamppong... The two of us agonized for over 5 minutes, and what we finally chose was!!!!!! 🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻🔻

It's a stone-plate jjamppong place, so we're going with stone-plate jjamppong!!!!! We ordered the set menu haha—medium stone-plate jjamppong + mini crunch tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)—and added plump octopus and handmade gyoza dumplings 💖
I really agonized between whole squid too... but for jjamppong, I still prefer the plump octopus more ❤️ A whole octopus goes in there, and it's so plump—chewy with every bite, and that octopus juice that holds in the jjamppong broth, what do you even call that ㅠ Anyway, it's an octopus that came straight from the sea, that's what I'm saying 😭😭😭

I also really love bean sprouts,,,💛 and they piled a ton on top of the stone-plate jjamppong, so I got that crunchy texture and ate it up so happily!
I really want everyone to see how good this looks,,🧡 I wonder how good the stone-plate jjajangmyeon is,,, wrapped in green onion kimchi it'd probably be delicious 🤤

Handmade gyoza dumplings wrapped in green onion kimchi
Hahahahahahahahaha since I don't have jjajangmyeon, I'll wrap the gyoza dumplings in green onion kimchi instead 💚 But this was also a genuinely delicious combo,, the handmade gyoza dumplings are already good on their own, but topped with green onion kimchi it's basically green onion kimchi dumplings!!!!!! 💚

If a jjamppong place has this good dumplings and tangsuyuk, they might as well rename it a dumpling shop!

How much tangsuyuk do you get in the mini crunch size?
It's called the mini crunch tangsuyuk but the portion is really not mini at all!!!!! But it's so good you'll find yourself just continuously putting it in your mouth~~~!
The sauce is sweet and tangy and super addictive, and I'm not sure if it's fried in breadcrumbs but it was extra crispy and delicious!! Somewhere between tangsuyuk and donkasu, a tang-kasu(?) hahahahahahaha!!!

Three ways to eat one stone-plate jjamppong: broth, stir-fried noodles, scorched rice
Before the jjamppong even arrived, I studied this sign 👀✨

By the time we'd fully enjoyed the side dishes, the broth had soaked into the noodles and it turned into stir-fried jjamppong!!

Eating it as stir-fried jjamppong was really a special treat too 🧡 And of course, Chinese food needs pickled radish alongside it to be complete!
Apparently you're supposed to finish with the scorched rice at the bottom of the stone plate!! You really get 3 flavors from just one jjamppong, so happy about it ✌🏻 Spicy jjamppong + stir-fried jjamppong noodles + stone-plate scorched rice

They even give you a yogurt to finish,,, even full, I made sure to polish it off -🕺🏻💃🏻

Is Songjeong Dol Jjamppong worth adding to a Songjeong day trip?
It's great to eat after playing in the water at the beach 💦 and it'd also make a really good meal while looking out at the Songjeong sea! If you love jjamppong, you really have to go once!! I'm planning to come back soon to try the stone-plate jjajangmyeon 🤍
