Hey everyone! Today I visited my boyfriend's regular spot, Yeonsu Gopchang, a makchang restaurant in Yeonsu-dong. It's clean and savory with zero off smell. Let me introduce Yeonsu Gopchang Yeonsu Main Branch :)

Inside Yeonsu Gopchang, a Yeonsu-dong regulars' spot of nine years

This is the inside of Yeonsu Gopchang Yeonsu Main Branch. It's been a beloved Yeonsu-dong staple for 9 years, dating back to its days as Miro Gopchang, so it has a lot of regulars. My boyfriend happens to be one of them, so we went together haha.

On one wall you can check out Yeonsu Gopchang's signature menu items.

With over 10 years of hands-on prep know-how, they low-temperature age the gopchang for 24 hours to keep it savory with no off smell — let's see for ourselves haha.

This is the Yeonsu Gopchang menu. You can order à la carte, but I went with the assorted set my own way. You can pick two flavors each for makchang and gopchang, so I chose salt-grilled makchang and vegetable gopchang stir-fry.

There's a self-serve bar so you can easily grab extra side dishes whenever you need.
Free with every order: sundae, liver and a kettle of eomuk broth 💛

The best part is that sundae (Korean blood sausage) and liver come standard as a free sample, along with a kettle of eomuk (fish cake) broth! Perfect drinking snacks, honestly haha.

With the cool weather these days, the folding doors were open, giving off that outdoor pojangmacha vibe — perfect for a glass of makgeolli~

The piping hot eomuk broth is amazing haha.
The makchang and gopchang platter, grilled and served ready to eat

Our platter of makchang and gopchang arrived. We went with my boyfriend's usual order — salt-grilled makchang and vegetable gopchang stir-fry — already cooked so we could dig right in, and the portions were super generous.
The vegetable gopchang stir-fry comes with thick glass noodles stir-fried right along with the gopchang, so glass-noodle lovers will be thrilled.
Today's drink of choice: makgeolli, let's go.

I started with my favorite, the grilled pork makchang. Pork makchang and gopchang need to have any off smell removed well, and thanks to their 24-hour low-temperature aging know-how, this had truly zero off smell — clean and savory!! I'm a total pork makchang fanatic, and this was tender rather than chewy, easy to eat, and just delicious haha.
Spicy gopchang stew in an earthenware pot

The fact that the gopchang stew hotpot is included in the assorted set is great, because whenever I eat gopchang stir-fry, I always crave a bit of soup with it too.

Grilled makchang + gopchang stir-fry AND gopchang stew all included?? No question, this is the ultimate combo haha. The hotpot is packed with stew, plus bean sprouts and perilla leaves, making it spicy and delicious.

With the sample sundae and liver on top, the side dishes are seriously generous lol. My favorite snack and the drinks just keep flowing~~

The gopchang stir-fry wrapped in perilla leaves is a killer combo, and the gopchang itself is soft, tender, and just spicy enough to whet your appetite.
The seasoning itself is so good that I got excited for the fried rice to come — eating the glass noodles together with the gopchang is delicious.

Pork makchang eaten together with chives has even better umami. The flavor combinations here are totally my taste — the owner at Yeonsu Gopchang really knows food haha.
Finishing with colorful fried rice

The last part of the assorted set is fried rice. When it looks this colorful and pretty, it just tastes even better.

You stir-fry it yourself right on the griddle haha. With a fried egg mixed in, it's savory, and combined with the crunch of the pickled radish and the toasty roasted seaweed flakes, this fried rice is seriously good! Topping it with the bit of leftover gopchang stir-fry makes it even better.
Is Yeonsu Gopchang worth a visit near Yeonsu Station?
A perfectly composed makchang + gopchang + stew assorted set that makes the drinks go down easy

When you want grilled makchang, gopchang stir-fry, and gopchang stew all at once, this three-in-one set covers everything — it's such a generous deal that it's kind of amazing for a drinking spot lol. And on top of that, sundae, liver, and eomuk broth come free?? Enough said — I became a regular starting that day haha. The makchang-gopchang platter comes already grilled so it's easy to eat, and with no off smell at all, it's a crowd-pleasing favorite in Yeonsu-dong. I'd recommend Yeonsu Gopchang Yeonsu Main Branch for a family meal out or a group gathering :)
