Sangbong Korean BBQ with unlimited jjolang ramyeon: Super Naengsam

In short

Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch is a frozen pork belly restaurant near exit 3 of Sangbong Station in Jungnang, Seoul. Two people ordered 3 servings of pork belly plus 3,900-won unlimited Hangang ramyeon (jjaseulraeng) and kimchi jjigae, and got so full that fried rice never happened. The self-serve side dish and ramyeon bars kept the grill loaded, and the shift into open-air dining as the sun set made for a great vibe.

Sangbong Meokjagolmok (상봉먹자골목, Sangbong food alley) has been getting hotter lately with more people around, and new spots keep popping up. What caught our family's eye was frozen pork belly! We couldn't resist checking out the new naengsam place, so we headed out for a weekend meal. We visited Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch, a Sangbong Station Korean BBQ spot!

Location: 3 minutes on foot from Sangbong Station

Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch is about a 3-minute walk from exit 3 of Sangbong Station, a transfer point for Line 7, the Gyeongui-Jungang Line and the Gyeongchun Line. It sits right at the entrance of Sangbong Meokjagolmok, and the sign is big enough that it's easy to find even the first time.

Just one meat menu — frozen pork belly, minimum 3 servings for first order

Here's the menu board at Super Naengsam. You check the menus posted around the walls and order directly with staff — the meat is a single item, frozen pork belly! Your first order needs to be at least 3 servings. There's also a cheap unlimited ramyeon self-bar, plus a range of meal and drink options, making it a good spot for couples or families who want to eat and drink at once.

Five commandments for eating Super Naengsam well! One line hit especially close to home: fried rice isn't optional, it's mandatory... Did we manage to eat the fried rice in the end?

Side dishes served all at once on a giant tray

The giant tray of side dishes and the self-bar

The side dishes all arrive at once on a big round tray. Green onion, bean sprouts, minari (water celery) and kimchi — great for grilling along with the meat! Chum Churum soju is 5,000 won. Dad's soul food, always present no matter where...

If any side dish runs low, you can just grab more from the self-bar. Small plates, wet wipes and sauces are all set out too. There's a ramyeon machine right next to it, so we ordered Hangang ramyeon alongside our pork belly.

Unlimited Hangang ramyeon for ₩3,900 — the jjaseulraeng pick

Hangang ramyeon is 3,900 won. Everything from soup noodles like Shin Ramyun, Jin Ramyun and Anseong Tangmyeon to stir-fried noodles like Buldak Bokkeummyeon, jjaseulraeng and Jin Bibimmyeon is unlimited at 3,900 won. I really wanted jjapaghetti, so I picked jjaseulraeng.

₩9,900 frozen pork belly, and a loaded grill

₩9,900 frozen pork belly, and a loaded grill

Frozen pork belly is 9,900 won. We ordered just the basic 3 servings of naengsam plus ramyeon, but the side dishes were generous and there were plenty of vegetables to grill alongside, so the grill ended up completely loaded — very satisfying. King oyster mushrooms come with the order, and there's enoki mushroom at the self-bar too! I love mushrooms 🍄🍄

A generous shake of pepper on top, and the good-looking, hearty naengsam at this Sangbong Station Korean BBQ spot is ready to eat~!!!

While we were busy grilling the meat, the Hangang ramyeon finished cooking. Pour a little broth out at the water disposal spot, mix in the powder sauce, and shake it all together — a delicious jjajang-style ramyeon is done! Even better eaten alongside the naengsam, ㅠㅠㅠ.

Thicker-cut naengsam and wrap vegetables

After only ever eating paper-thin naengsam, this place's pork belly is quite thick, giving it a great chew. Good texture, you can taste the juiciness, very savory naengsam~ There's minari, onion, green onion, kimchi, garlic and more, plus sesame oil sauce and ssamjang — so many things to add to the wrap.

Fresh lettuce and perilla leaves are also on hand for wraps, so you can wrap it up properly and get your greens in too! Unlimited enoki mushrooms — is this even allowed? We got to eat very generously and deliciously.

₩5,000 kimchi jjigae — sundubu jjigae was sold out

Kimchi jjigae is 5,000 won, rice is 1,000 won. Sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) was sold out, so we ordered kimchi jjigae instead, and the broth was so rich and spicy, deliciously fiery, packed with huge chunks of meat and tofu — genuinely moving...

Fried rice for next time, and open-air mode by evening

Between the 3 servings of naengsam and unlimited ramyeon for two of us, we got so stuffed we never made it to the fried rice — a shame, but since we'll probably be back often, we decided to save it. I wanted another bowl of ramyeon too... but it just wasn't happening. Next time we're definitely coming with three or four people to finish it all!!

As the sun started going down, the restaurant threw its doors wide open and set up tables outside for full open-air mode. Perfect weather these days for that outdoor dining vibe! It looked like it would fill up fast. Come to this Sangbong Station Korean BBQ spot, Super Naengsam, for meat and unlimited ramyeon and a really filling meal!
