Songpa Korean restaurant for a six-portion gopchang course: Jinseong
In short
Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch is a Korean restaurant in Songpa, Seoul, serving Korean beef gopchang and daechang. After a 45-minute Thursday-evening wait, four people ate 3 servings of each plus kkakdugi fried rice. Verdict: worth the wait when both cuts are calling your name.

When you want proper beef gopchang in Bangi-dong
It had been ages since I’d gone out for some proper beef gopchang in Bangi-dong. The place I visited was Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch. At a gopchang place, taste matters, of course—but so do how generously filled the intestines are, whether there’s any off smell, and what comes alongside them, right? So this time too, I tried everything properly, one by one. Long story short... we ordered six servings and ate until we were bursting.

As you’d expect from a popular spot... we arrived around 7 p.m. and there was already a wait. We came without a reservation, and maybe because it was Thursday evening, tables weren’t turning over quickly. After waiting and waiting, we finally got in around 7:45. I mean... isn’t that proof from the start that it’s a real Bangi-dong favorite? Haha.
How do you order Korean beef gopchang and daechang?

The menu is wonderfully simple: Korean beef gopchang (small intestine), Korean beef daechang (large intestine), and Korean beef makchang (last intestine). There were four of us, so we first ordered three servings of Korean beef gopchang, then added three servings of Korean beef daechang, and finally one serving of kkakdugi yangbap (diced-radish fried rice).
Just so you know, you can’t order a mixed platter like gopchang + daechang. You need to order each cut separately, so that’s worth keeping in mind. It wasn’t a problem for us anyway. Haha.
The side dishes and sauce lineup

Once you sit down, they set out seasoned garlic chives, dipping sauce for the gopchang, and a spread of kimchi dishes. The sauce especially had Cheongyang chili peppers and chives in it, which made it great to eat with the meat when things started feeling a little rich.

They also gave us a steamed egg as a basic side. It was nice to spoon into before the gopchang arrived.

Plump Korean beef gopchang that made me forget the wait
Oh my gosh, the Korean beef gopchang finally appeared. The look of it alone was game over. The gopchang came arranged all around a griddle, with bean sprouts, chives, kimchi, rice cakes, and potatoes piled in the middle. More than anything, the gopchang was so plump that my anticipation went through the roof just looking at it. A staff member cooked it to the perfect point for us... and every memory of that 45-minute wait vanished. This was the moment I thought, yep, coming all the way to eat Bangi-dong beef gopchang was absolutely worth it. 🫶🏻

After gopchang, it was time for plump Korean beef daechang
We slurped up the Korean beef gopchang in no time and immediately added three servings of Korean beef daechang. But seriously, look at that daechang. It was the definition of plump, plump, plump. Haha. They cut the thick pieces into easy bites, and they were packed with fat, so the sheen got absolutely wild as they cooked. While the gopchang was nutty and chewy, the daechang was definitely softer and richer, with a completely different charm. So in the end, the right course was gopchang first, then daechang.

Finishing with kkakdugi fried rice
We’d clearly eaten three servings of gopchang and three servings of daechang, and I truly felt like my stomach might burst. But I kept looking at the kkakdugi yangbap on the menu, so naturally we ended up ordering one serving. Haha. The second it arrived, the visuals made total sense. The fried rice was topped with kkakdugi, kimchi, shredded seaweed, and a fried egg, so it was more elaborate than I expected. The crunchy kkakdugi was especially nice in every bite, making it a great finish after all that rich gopchang and daechang. I said I was full, but... this proves there’s always a separate stomach for fried rice. ♥︎

Both the Korean beef gopchang and daechang were clean-tasting with no off smell, and the whole lineup was perfect, from the basic sides to the finishing kkakdugi yangbap... So that’s why there’s a wait. We waited almost 45 minutes to get in, but once we ate, it felt worth it. Haha. Considering gopchang places these days, the prices were pretty reasonable too, so I’d recommend it to anyone looking for good-value beef gopchang in Bangi-dong. There may be a wait at dinner peak time, so I recommend coming a little early or making a reservation. If you love gopchang, I highly recommend Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch!
