Sokcho family café with Ulsanbawi views: Cafe Neorae

When I’m looking for a café to visit with family in Sokcho, there’s one place I’ve gone back to several times: Cafe Neorae (카페너래). There are so many pretty cafés in Sokcho, but when you’re going with family, you naturally end up looking for somewhere spacious and comfortable.

Cafe Neorae is spacious overall, with plenty of seating, so it was great for visiting with a child. Best of all, the Ulsanbawi view from the windows is seriously amazing. On a clear day, the mountains and sky fill your view, and it’s so nice to sip coffee while taking in the scenery.

There’s a good variety of bread and the coffee is tasty too, so it’s a great place to bring visiting family or friends to Sokcho.

Cafe Neorae is one of the larger cafés in Sokcho.

There’s a restaurant on the first floor, while the café operates across the second and third floors. The parking area is relatively roomy too, making it convenient to drive here. When you’re traveling around Sokcho as a family, parking and seating matter more than you might think, right? In that respect, this was an easy café to visit.

A Spacious Interior and Ulsanbawi Views

When you head up to the second floor, you’ll first find the area for choosing bread and drinks. The first thing I thought as I walked in was, “It’s much bigger than I expected!”

Both the second and third floors have plenty of seats, so it worked well for groups, and the tables were nicely spaced rather than feeling cramped.

There are lots of floor-to-ceiling windows, so you can enjoy the outdoor scenery depending on where you sit. If you’re looking for a café with an Ulsanbawi view, this one is definitely worth a visit. The mountains and Sokcho scenery outside the windows were really beautiful.

They’ve also landscaped the café beautifully with plants and stones throughout. It isn’t just a huge café lined with tables; there are green little spaces here and there, which are great for photos and make the atmosphere feel even more relaxing.

With the brick interior added in, the overall feeling is warm yet clean!

There’s also a space where sunlight streams in through the ceiling, so I imagine the atmosphere would be especially lovely on a nice day.

Drinks and Bakery Items

You can choose both drinks and bakery items on the second floor.

There were more kinds of bread than I expected, so I spent a while deciding what to get. The kind of display where you come only for coffee, then end up adding a piece of bread too, haha.

They have signature drinks and a wide range of coffee, so it was easy to choose something that suited my taste.

Because the café itself is so large, it’s nice for catching up with friends or sitting with family and taking your time. So when someone asks me for a Sokcho café recommendation, I’d recommend Cafe Neorae to anyone who likes a spacious setting.

The Coffee and Bread I Had

That day, I ordered coffee and bread. The coffee I had was delicious—not too bitter and not bland either.

To be honest, some large cafés with great views have a lovely atmosphere but disappointing coffee. Here, even the coffee was good, so I was satisfied. And the bread I ordered with it!

It was nicely golden on the outside and delicious in its own right, making it perfect with coffee.

Why It’s Great With Kids

One thing I especially loved after visiting Cafe Neorae several times: they have high chairs.

When visiting a café as a family, checking whether there are high chairs is one of the first things you do. They have them here, which made it nice to visit with a child.

But what really impressed me was that they have a changing table. I’ve been to several cafés in Sokcho, but there really aren’t as many as you’d think with a changing table inside the café. When you’re out with a baby, even finding somewhere to change a diaper at a café can be quietly stressful, so this amenity was genuinely convenient. It felt like more than just a pretty café—it’s a large Sokcho café that families can visit comfortably.

My Overall Take After Several Visits

I’ve visited Cafe Neorae several times, and every time I’m reminded how spacious and comfortable it is. Add in the wonderful view of Ulsanbawi, and sipping coffee really made me feel like I was on a trip.

The brick-and-plant-filled space is pretty, and the overall atmosphere is lovely, so I think it would suit anyone looking for a Sokcho café with a warm, local feel. It’s good for a date, good with friends, and good with family like I did.
