Gangnam café terrace coffee before TOEIC Speaking: Selected Nicks

Selected Nicks is a large café near Gangnam Station in Seoul, with floors from B1 to a rooftop. Before a TOEIC Speaking test, I had pistachio tiramisu, an iced Americano and a latte on the first-floor outdoor terrace. Verdict: great tiramisu and lots of space, but it gets very busy.

A Gangnam outing for the first time in ages... well, not really—I was there for TOEIC Speaking, and stopped by this huge Gangnam café, Selected Nicks (셀렉티드닉스), to load up on sugar + caffeine before the test!!
At first, every review and even Naver Map kept saying its biggest strength was that it was a large café. I was like, how large can a non-chain café right in the middle of Gangnam possibly be? I went out of curiosity and was pretty surprised!
Just how big is Selected Nicks?
The building itself is seriously tall, and the café occupies B1, 1F, 2F, 3F, 8F, and even the rooftop....!! Most of those floors were full, too, so we had to sit on the outdoor terrace 😂
It is close to Gangnam Station on the Shinbundang Line, on the lower street rather than the English academy side. It is open daily: 11:00–23:30 on weekends, and an incredible 08:00–24:00 on weekdays. How is that even possible.. 😅
How do you order the tiramisu?
You order drinks and desserts on the first floor, but from the entrance onward they were displaying and promoting Selected Nicks' pride and joy: all the tiramisu varieties!
It was an unusual setup: you choose the tiramisu you want, put it on a tray, and take it to the counter when ordering. But most people just went straight to order...! There is no actual tiramisu inside the display, so ordering straight from the kiosk is totally fine.
Pistachio tiramisu, chosen the instant I saw how it looked! I love nuts like pistachios so much :)
There is also a set menu where you can have coffee and dessert at about 10% off, so keep that in mind! It was amazing how many kinds of tiramisu they had.
They had assorted financiers too, but tiramisu is definitely Selected Nicks' main event! There are no fewer than nine types of tiramisu, plus a platter where you can try three varieties. So cool.
The first-floor terrace when everywhere is full
There were so many customers trying to order that we had to line up... Everyone else took the elevator upstairs for coffee, but we went for the terrace seating right beside the first floor!

It was so amazing that the pistachio tiramisu looked exactly like the photo. And it was bigger than I expected! Tiramisu like this at this price in Gangnam, plus a rooftop café? There are just so many reasons it is popular... and accordingly, so many people!
The weather has suddenly gotten so nice lately that we could enjoy coffee on the outdoor terrace even in the daytime. No studying—just coffee and tiramisu..
They piled on the pistachios :) A tiramisu whose looks call for a camera..! And it used ladyfingers, making it exactly the style of tiramisu I love.
The coffee was decent too, with a balanced hint of acidity and roastiness. The iced Americano went really well with the tiramisu!
This outdoor terrace beside the first floor was unexpectedly nicer than the packed seating on the other floors, so we got to relax :) Maybe I relaxed a little too much... the test did not go as well as I hoped 😭 If you are looking for a large café or rooftop café to try in Gangnam, do visit Selected Nicks!
