Brazier jjukkumi and nuruk tangsuyuk near Daemyeong Station, Daegu
In short
Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch is a brazier-cooked Korean set-meal restaurant behind Exit 4 of Daemyeong Station in Nam-gu, Daegu. The writer ordered the solo brazier jjukkumi (stir-fried baby octopus) set for 16,900 won, the charcoal-grilled pork set for 12,900 won, and a mini tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) for 9,900 won, making two trips to the self-serve bar for seaweed, rice, and fried eggs. The jjukkumi stayed chewy and smoky all the way through since it's served bubbling on a brazier — a solid pick for lunch or dinner near the Seobu Bus Terminal.

A lunch spot verified by office workers in Daemyeong-dong: ❝ Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch ❞
It's right behind Exit 4 of Daemyeong Station, so it's super easy to reach on foot, and it's also famous as a delivery favorite ᵔ︡⌔ᵔ︠

Where do you park at Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch?
Parking isn't in front of the restaurant — it's in the lot right next door! Parking can be tough at busy times, so I'd recommend the nearby side streets or public transit instead

Atmosphere and seating
Outside the restaurant there's cool roasted hawthorn tea, great for beating fatigue ❄️
There are window seats looking out onto the street too (solo dining here looks pretty comfortable haha)
Right next to that is a sink where you can wash your hands without going to the restroom
In the middle of the restaurant there's also a spacious group table that seats up to 14‼️ Even though I went deliberately late on a weekday evening, there were still a few groups eating
Most of the seating is set up for 2 to 4 people, and every table has a drawer with spoons and tissues

What we ordered and the prices
Every table has a kiosk, so you can order and pay right there ✌🏻 Here's what we ordered
- ✔️ Solo brazier charcoal pork set: ₩12,900
- ✔ Solo brazier jjukkumi stir-fry set: ₩16,900
- ✔ Tasting-size tangsuyuk (mini): ₩9,900
- ✔ Coca-Cola Zero: ₩2,000 🥤
I liked that you can check what's in each set from the photos on the kiosk

For reference, if you sign up for the Dongi membership you can instantly redeem a free mini tangsuyuk coupon ✨ and if you leave a receipt review you get a free lemonade too 🍋 That's a ₩5,900 drink — for free!

Unlimited seaweed, rice, and fried egg self-serve bar
While waiting for the food, you can help yourself endlessly to seaweed, rice, hawthorn tea, and fried eggs from the self-serve bar 🤤

They pour plenty of oil and fry the eggs for you 🍳 (totally fine to eat three or four!) Plates for the eggs, paper towels, and salt are all set out too 🧂

How's the nuruk (fermented yeast)-aged tangsuyuk?
The nuruk-aged tangsuyuk came out first — the batter is chewy like kkwabaegi-style fried pork, and the meat isn't tough, on the thicker side. The meat itself is a bit salty, but the sauce is sweet and delicious, and there were about 4 mini fried rice cakes in it too

Brazier jjukkumi stir-fry set
The jjukkumi (baby octopus) 🐙 came out before the pork — the big advantage is that it comes on a brazier so it stays warm the whole time you eat 🔥 There were soft rice cakes in this one too, not hard at all, just chewy!!
Funny thing! It's grilled over charcoal, right? Do you know charcoal grilling? Suddenly reminded me of that variety show bit — anyway, it really does taste better cooked over the brazier than just eaten plain 🤤✌🏻

Anyway, the jjukkumi stir-fry set comes with a creamy ivory-colored sauce, and there's a generous amount of it ~ (˘▽˘~) The set comes with rice, side dishes, and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) — a really solid spread

The doenjang jjigae also has two pieces of tofu and enoki mushrooms in it 🍄🟫

I know the pork is good, but I was secretly worried about how the jjukkumi would turn out 👀

。* .ᰔ It's. Good. ‼️ The jjukkumi is nice and chewy, and combined with the addictive seasoning I could even taste the smokiness 🔥 🐙 🔥 🐙 🔥

It's even better if you dip it in the sauce 🤍 the more you dip, the more savory it gets (it's not too spicy, so it's tasty even without dipping haha)

And of course, the charcoal-grilled pork stir-fry
We also ate the charcoal-grilled pork stir-fry 🐽 this place really is a pork stir-fry specialist — grilling it on the brazier makes it taste even better 🔥

Wrapping it in the seaweed we brought over — how good could that possibly be, right?
I went back to the self-serve bar for another bowl of rice and fried up one more egg too

I want to eat this again (>_<。) ❣️ I hope Cafe Dongi gets famous... no wait, don't get famous... no, get famous... no, don't get famous... okay, get famous so more branches open 🙏🏻
Dessert: barley gangjeong
Dessert was sweet, crunchy barley gangjeong (crispy rice snack) 🌾 they said it's made only with Gimpo Geumssal (five-color brown rice), which made me want to grab a few extra pieces lol

Nutty, crunchy, and sweet — perfect for cleansing the palate 🤤✨ If you're looking for a restaurant near the Seobu Bus Terminal in Daegu, this is the Daemyeong-dong spot approved by office workers — Cafe Dongi, go check it out
