Daegu Korean restaurant for white yukgaejang: Yukbanjang
In short
Yukbanjang Gwangjanggakoa Gwangko Branch is a Korean restaurant near Gamsam Station in Dalseo, Daegu. I ordered white yukgaejang and charcoal-grilled bulgogi for a satisfying solo meal, while the spacious dining room and high chairs also looked great for families. The rich broth and smoky-sweet bulgogi were the standouts.

Nourishing yukgaejang near Gamsam Station
This is Yukbanjang Gwangjanggakoa Gwangko Branch (육반장 광장코아 광코점), known for yukgaejang kalguksu (spicy beef soup with knife-cut noodles) near Gamsam Station in Daegu. I have been going out for solo meals a lot lately, and I spotted the sign saying nourishing yukgaejang while passing by—well, I had to have some nourishing food, haha. So straight in I went! It is a five-minute walk from Gamsam Station Exit 2, and you can use the public parking lot across the street.

The restaurant was spacious and clean. I also liked that there was room between the tables. There are high chairs too, so it looks like a nice place to bring children, and it would be great for a family meal as well.

The wall was absolutely covered in celebrity autographs, and I thought, ah, I picked the right place, hahaha. It must be a seriously popular restaurant!!!

Visit at opening for king galbi yukgaejang
They have the signature king galbi yukgaejang, limited to just 20 bowls a day, as well as spicy red yukgaejang and refreshing white yukgaejang. You can adjust the spice level, so just let them know when ordering! There are set menus too, so I recommend one if you are visiting with several people or cannot decide. The King Galbi Set is ₩45,000 and includes half a portion of herbal boiled beef and two king galbi yukgaejang.
Ordering white yukgaejang and charcoal-grilled bulgogi
Today, I ordered white yukgaejang and charcoal-grilled bulgogi. I liked that the prices were not too high. I was going to order the ₩17,000 king galbi yukgaejang, but they told me it was already sold out… If you want king galbi yukgaejang, come right at opening time. It is popular!!!

After I ordered, they brought out Yukbanjang’s hovenia tea—“a meal that sits easy on the stomach begins with one sip.” Does that not sound so cool? Haha. Hovenia tea is just so delicious on its own too!

The basic side dishes were baek-kimchi (mild white kimchi) and seokbakji (cubed radish kimchi)! I think baek-kimchi would go so well with red yukgaejang, while kkakdugi-style radish kimchi would be perfect with white yukgaejang. Such a thoughtful owner—preparing something spicy and something mild at once, haha.

Rich white yukgaejang and smoky charcoal-grilled bulgogi
My meal arrived. It was presented so neatly and cleanly, and the white yukgaejang had a broth that was a little like beef bone broth—truly nourishing food itself!

Even though it was white yukgaejang, the broth was rich and packed with meat, so it was tender and delicious. It was perfect for mixing in a bowl of rice and having a filling meal. The broth was so refreshing that I kept gulping it down, hahaha.

This charcoal-grilled bulgogi was genuinely delicious. It was full of smoky flavor and lightly sweet, and I think children would love it too. If you are eating out with kids, this is a must-order. The portion was so generous that I nearly burst after eating it alone, haha.
Children in sixth grade and under get a free Pororo benefit, and police officers and firefighters receive a small portion of boiled beef as a thank-you gift. The staff were all so kind, and I cannot believe Daegu has such a delicious local favorite… Lucky Daegu. Now I understand why there were so many celebrity autographs!! If you are looking for a simple meal with children, a family dinner, or a place to gather, how about Yukbanjang Daegu Branch?
