Today's post is about a spot near Seobu Bus Terminal I've already visited several times — and every single time I leave completely satisfied. Perfect for lunch! It's Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch.

Isn't that a really special motto for a restaurant to have?? Honestly, anyone who runs their business with that mindset deserves to succeed. Cafe Dongi is located close to Seobu Bus Terminal. It's not right on the main road — it's tucked back in an alley, so it can be a little tricky to find — but you'll find it's an impressive spot once you get there~

Despite being called a 'cafe,' they don't sell coffee. Hahaha! Yep, that's right. It's just a restaurant! And a Korean food specialist at that!
The self-fry egg bar: why Cafe Dongi works with kids
One of the best things about Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch is the self-serve station where you can fry your own eggs. Plenty of places are trying this these days, but I don't think anywhere else makes it as easy and comfortable as here! See that? We fried through half a carton of eggs ourselves! Seriously amazing, right? And nobody gave us a single funny look, no one told us to stop — totally relaxed the whole time! Haha! That's because my kid #2 is a total fried-egg fanatic. She practically can't eat rice without an egg~ lol
The frying pan is just the right size to fry 4 eggs at once! We fried three batches like this and cleared 12 eggs total! Lol! The self-serve station is truly a blessing!
Unlimited rice refills — which is why rice isn't on the menu
On top of that, rice refills are unlimited any time. This Seobu Bus Terminal lunch spot, Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch, doesn't even have a rice item on the menu — because the rice itself is already unlimited refills~ Such a generous policy! Though... I do wonder a bit how they make any money selling it this way~ Ha, oh well...

Medium tangsuyuk instead of mini: scissor-cut, half dipped and half sauced
There's one menu item you absolutely must order at Cafe Dongi — tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)! We leveled up the size — no mini tangsuyuk here. The kids protested, so we ordered the medium size instead!
They cut it with scissors and set it up so everyone can enjoy both dipping-sauce-on-the-side and sauce-poured-over-it styles evenly. The tangsuyuk sauce genuinely tastes like it's made with real care. Absolutely fantastic!
Splitting the order: brazier-grilled meat set plus curry rice
I ordered the grilled meat set, and the kids went with curry rice!
A meal properly infused with smoky char — exactly the kind of flavor perfect for a hearty, no-frills meal~
Even after the rice arrived, the kids' love for the tangsuyuk was still burning bright~ I was worried the portion might be too much, but I really didn't need to worry~ It's so tasty that the kids genuinely love it~
There are two kinds of grilled meat, so you can order according to your taste and pick your favorite! The cabbage and enoki mushrooms really add to the flavor too. Eating meat alone can get a bit boring, so the sides help a lot~
As always, Cafe Dongi, this Seobu Bus Terminal lunch spot, doesn't disappoint and delivers real satisfaction. I've noticed quite a few new branches opening up around the Daegu area lately~ I guess people's tastes really are all alike. When a place offers such good value for the price, of course it's going to get more popular...
The curry rice and miyeokguk the kids went for
Cafe Dongi's curry rice is closer to Japanese-style curry than your typical curry. My kid #2 already loves curry, so she ate it up even more happily~
On top of that, it comes with miyeokguk (seaweed soup) too, making it the perfect meal for my kid #2. Hahaha!
Normally she needs someone to feed her, but she ate this all by herself~ That's because it's her favorite dish~ Kids who hate curry are pretty rare, so this place is great for family meals, and with its cafe-like atmosphere, it'd also be nice for couples to eat here~
