In short

Sushi Naru Yeongdae Hospital Main Branch is a sushi restaurant in Daemyeong-dong, Nam-gu, Daegu, a 5-minute walk from Yeongdae Hospital Station. The owner's top recommendation, the special sushi platter, came with flounder, salmon, tuna, bluefin tuna, scallop, shrimp, beef and eel, and two extra pieces of flounder were ordered at the end. Udon and white kimchi come included, so Sushi Naru delivered on both taste and value.

Where is Sushi Naru Yeongdae Hospital Main Branch, and when is it open?

I arrived at Sushi Naru, a 5-minute walk from Yeongdae Hospital, an area known for good sushi spots. A little aquarium in front of the shop greeted me as soon as I got there.

Sushi Naru's menu: can you add extra pieces?

Sushi Naru had set menus you could share with friends or a partner, and you could also add whatever items you wanted separately. The prices are totally reasonable too, right? 👍 I especially loved that you could order extra pieces! (The menu ranged from regular items to flounder fin, sea urchin roe, bluefin tuna belly, and other cuts you don't get to eat often.)

We went with the special sushi platter! I decided to trust the owner's "strongly recommended" note.

Inside Sushi Naru: bar seats, window seats for two, tables for four

The inside of Sushi Naru was bigger than it looked from outside. It had a cozy, warm atmosphere, and there were several seating options — bar seats, window seats for two, and tables for four for coming with family, haha.

Being right near Yeongdae Hospital Station made it easy to get to, and while there's no dedicated parking lot, there's the convenience of parking on the street right near the shop.

There's a Naver review event where you can get items like tempura, takoyaki, or sushi, so make sure to take part! Jumbo shrimp tempura, curry croquette — they look so good 🤤🍤🥘

How long is the wait at Sushi Naru?

Even while we waited after ordering, a lot of delivery orders kept coming in, and I thought, I really found a good spot, haha. But since the owner makes all the sushi alone, there can be a bit of a wait! We waited a little, but the time flew by chatting with each other.

The essential pickled ginger and takuan were set off to one side too.

The udon that comes included with every order

This is the udon that comes free when you order sushi at Sushi Naru. It was more than just a taste — quite a decent portion — and with the sushi it left me pretty full. The seasoning was just right and it was so good I almost ordered another, haha.

What's in Sushi Naru's special sushi platter, and how it tasted

The special sushi platter (특선초밥) finally arrived 🍣 Flounder, salmon, tuna, bluefin tuna belly, scallop, shrimp, beef, eel, and more — first satisfied by the generous lineup, then satisfied again once I tasted it. I was especially surprised by the first bite of fish sushi — no fishy taste at all, clean flavor, and a thick, hearty cut.

The side salad that came with it was refreshingly tangy too. One special touch: Sushi Naru serves finely chopped white kimchi alongside, which was perfect for me since I'm not a huge pickled ginger fan. Great texture, and the taste was even better~~~

Simple is best, as they say — the lineup itself might be a fairly common assorted sushi selection, but I think the quality shows a clear difference. That's exactly where Sushi Naru proves itself a true sushi spot. From the first bite to the last, there wasn't a single piece that didn't taste good. If I had to pick one favorite, it'd be the flounder? So chewy and delicious 🤤

Adding two extra pieces of flounder

I was too full to add much more, but leaving without ordering anything else felt like a waste, so I just added two extra pieces of flounder. They were made fresh right away and were so, so good :)

Who is Sushi Naru best for?

Sushi Naru has tables for four, so it's great for coming with family too. In fact, the table behind us was a family enjoying a meal together. And for friends or couples, wouldn't sushi and a beer after work be nice too? Haha.

Next time I come, I'll have to sit at this window seat for two. With both taste and value on point, repeat visits are already guaranteed 😄

For solo diners, the bar seats looked great too, and it seems like it'd be fun watching the sushi get made fresh right in front of you.

Sushi Naru, located in Daemyeong-dong near Apsan in Daegu, was a place I kept meaning to visit and finally did. It's got both accessibility and taste, and my companion and I left satisfied — I'd definitely recommend it 😙
