In short

Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch is a sushi takeout shop in Namdong, Incheon. I took home assorted shrimp, salmon tataki, and halibut sushi, all thoughtfully packed with a cold bag, ice pack, soy sauce tray, and soup. Verdict: fresh, well-packed sushi worth returning for.

A sushi shop at Moraenae Market in Guwol-dong

Today I visited Moraenae Market in Guwol-dong, one of Incheon's representative markets. I used to come here often as a child, so it felt newly meaningful to be back after such a long time. I remember seeing articles saying the market had few customers during this summer's intense heat, as people held back on outdoor activities. Maybe because the heat has finally eased up, the market was full of people now. I went on the weekend, and wow, there were seriously so many people. A market crowd in the truest sense. I was so excited, like I had come out to play while soaking up that market atmosphere for the first time in ages haha.

It was lovely to see Moraenae Market again after so long.

A sushi counter continually replenished with freshly made sushi

As I walked farther inside, I spotted the sushi shop I had been looking for. Walk-in customers kept coming in.

I could see straight into the shop, which made me feel confident about its hygiene and cleanliness. You can also watch the sushi being prepared right in front of you in real time, so I think you can eat without any worries about the food.

There was a huge variety of sushi, starting with assorted sushi. They even had futomaki (thick sushi rolls) as big as a fist. Fresh fish sushi also caught my eye. Perhaps because so many customers visit, the counter looked a little bare at first. I was about to take the one remaining piece of halibut sushi, but the lady next to me took it first, so I went, ahh… and suddenly got flustered LOL. But they kept making sushi and replenishing the counter. They promptly put out more halibut sushi too, so I brought some home thinking, freshly made sushi—actually, even better! Earlier, I had watched them continually make sushi right in front of me, and with such good turnover, I don't think there is any need to worry that it has been sitting around for a long time!

Takeout packed with everything from a cold bag to a soy sauce tray

Oh my goodness, they packed the sushi takeout so luxuriously. They even put an ice pack into a cold bag that reminded me of a designer handbag. I thought it would be perfect for packing as a gift too. Such a lovely package to receive~

I was surprised again when I unpacked everything. The soy sauce and broth soup were included so thoughtfully! There was even a tray for the soy sauce, so you can eat right away without preparing any separate dishes. This was my first time receiving sushi takeout with such a thoughtful setup. I could feel the owner's consideration and care in making it easy for customers to eat.

How the assorted shrimp and salmon tataki sushi tasted

We took home assorted shrimp sushi, salmon tataki sushi, and halibut sushi. The colors look so good, right?

I don't think the photo fully shows it, but the shrimp on the assorted shrimp sushi were really substantial. Compared with shrimp sushi at other sushi shops, the shrimp were noticeably larger. That is why I grabbed them right away, and the shrimp meat was so plump that I could really enjoy that springy shrimp texture with every bite. The raw shrimp sushi was delicious too, with none of that fishy taste.

This is the salmon tataki sushi that my partner absolutely loved. It is lightly torched only on the outside, so it has that flame-grilled flavor while preserving salmon's rich, tender taste. I wanted raw salmon sushi more, but I picked this one because my partner strongly insisted LOL. But after trying it, I was so glad we chose it for takeout. Rather than having only raw sushi, eating it with this cooked fish sushi gave everything a nice balance, you know? The broth soup they included was wonderfully warming when mixed with hot water too.

The prices are lower than at other sushi shops, but the taste certainly is not cheap—in fact, both the packaging and the food quality were excellent. The next time I want sushi takeout, I would love to come back! Especially because the female owner is soooo kindㅠㅠ Her kindness level is maxed out… It even made me reflect on how I treat other people. Anyway, I really, really recommend this place👍👍
