In short

The special sushi set and futomaki (thick seaweed rice roll) each cost 15,000 won, packed in an ice bag with actual ice, and the set included flounder, seared salmon, soy-marinated shrimp, and freshwater eel, while the futomaki had thin rice and generous fish inside. Why I chose Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang for sushi takeout in Moraenae Market

Moraenae Market has been selling a lot of delicious stuff lately~ Among all of it, Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch caught my eye because you could take fresh sushi home and recreate an omakase mood there!! They said they get fresh seafood supplied daily from Yeonan Pier and sell sushi and sashimi made that same day!! The sushi and sashimi really looked fresh!!

Display case of sushi and sashimi

There were a lot of customers and the turnover was fast, so I could get fresh sushi. Since it's hot these days, they also sell cold raw fish soup~ Not just sushi — the fact that you can get cold raw fish soup, mixed sashimi, flounder sashimi, and salmon sashimi at really low prices seems like a big advantage. They fillet fish sourced that same day, so it all looked fresh.

What are the menu and prices?

On top of that, there's the perk of picking out sushi by type. Shrimp sushi is 6 pieces for 9,000 won, flounder sushi and raw salmon sushi are 10,000 won, and for those who don't like fish there's even tartare sushi and beef sushi!!

Menu board listing the special sushi set and solo sashimi set

Among them, the special sushi set and omakase sushi, which let you try a variety in one assortment, really stood out~ And the solo sashimi set seems perfect for people living alone!! If you just buy sashimi normally it goes over 40,000 won, but the solo set gives you a generous amount for just 15,000 won...!! Next time I need to try the solo set too.

Sushi takeout packed in an ice bag with ice added

Ice-bag packaging, fresh all the way home

I got the special sushi set and futomaki packed to go!! They even put ice in the ice bag, so it stayed fresh all the way home.

Special sushi set container opened at home

I opened the sushi as soon as I got home. Since they included an ice pack, I got to eat it fresh at home. Visually, it passed the test right away!! What a great world we live in, being able to eat a fancy sushi set at home, cheap and easy..

Soy sauce, wasabi, and concentrated miso soup base set

They give you soy sauce and wasabi as a set like this too. And so you don't get sick of it midway, they throw in concentrated miso soup base — just add hot water and you've got soup to go with the whole spread!!

The 15,000 won special sushi set: what's in it and how it tastes

It came with flounder x2, salmon x2, tuna akami x1, tuna belly x1, seared salmon x1, soy shrimp x1, freshwater eel x1, and garlic shrimp x1!! If you ordered delivery from a regular sushi place, this much would cost more, so being able to eat it for 15,000 won meant I got both value and taste.

Close-up of flounder sushi
Two pieces of salmon sushi

Of course you have to start with the first bite being flounder, a white fish~ The flounder was really chewy and fresh. The vinegared rice was also nicely sweet-and-sour and had good texture!! I really love flounder sashimi, so having two pieces made me happy..haha. There were also two pieces of salmon sashimi, soft with zero fishy taste, so I ate it up quickly!!

One piece of seared salmon sushi

The seared salmon was much softer than regular raw salmon and had that melt-in-your-mouth feeling!!

Garlic shrimp sushi
Soy-marinated shrimp sushi

The garlic shrimp kept the distinctive texture of raw shrimp while harmonizing well with the soft sauce flavor, and the soy-marinated shrimp was aged in soy sauce just right so the texture didn't fall apart, with the salty seasoning soaked in nicely.

Large freshwater eel sushi

On top of that, the freshwater eel was really chewy, had great texture, and was nice and big, and the tuna pieces let me taste that smooth, premium flavor as-is. Guess it's true what they say — if you're doing sushi takeout in Incheon, you have to go to Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang haha.

Takeout futomaki, 5 pieces

Futomaki, 5 pieces — ate my fill

This is the futomaki (thick seaweed rice roll). I remember getting just one teasing bite of this at omakase before, so this time I got it packed to eat as much as I wanted!! Anyone else always thinking 'I wish I could have just one more piece'?! Five palm-sized futomaki pieces for 15,000 won seemed like a really reasonable price!!

Cross-section of futomaki with salmon and avocado

The futomaki filling was salmon, tuna, avocado, egg, imitation crab, and pickled radish, really packed in generously!! The rice was very thin, with lots of fish inside, and it finished off with soft avocado and crunchy vegetables, so I could eat it all without feeling heavy.

Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch clearly has the advantage of letting you take home fresh sushi and sashimi at a low price. Since they only sell fish prepared that same day, I could really feel the freshness!! I recommend it to anyone looking for a good sushi takeout spot in Incheon.
