Mulhoe and sushi takeout for SSG Landers Field's homerun couple zone

Hi, this is your resident food-knows-best blogger :) Last time I got takeout from Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang, a sushi spot in Moraenae Market, and it was way fresher and tastier than I expected. So on a day I was headed to Incheon SSG Landers Field, instead of the crowded, wait-heavy spot inside the stadium, I stopped by Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch — comparatively chill, spacious, and great value — and packed a solid haul of special sushi and mulhoe (raw fish cold soup)!

Ballpark food — why pack it from outside?

The raw beef tartare sold at the stadium comes in cup form, which is awkward to share with a friend at a table seat, plus there's the whole stadium markup and value issue. Personally I much prefer buying from a relaxed restaurant outside the stadium and setting it up right away without waiting in line!

Hahaha, so to celebrate the day our slugging teammate showed up, I claimed the homerun couple zone and unfurled the full power of a Hoe-rmes spread across the whole table seat ^ㅡ^

Location and visit time at Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch

Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang sits on the main street next to Gopchang Alley in Moraenae Market, Incheon. I visited on a weekday at 5:30pm, still before the after-work/dinner rush, so luckily there were still plenty of sushi varieties left :) The mulhoe, though, had exactly one portion left — phew!

From plain raw-fish sushi with no torching or extra sauce, to fried tofu sushi, egg sushi, eel gunkan and more — there's plenty of variety to pick to your taste! Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang reportedly brings in fish directly from Yeonan Pier every dawn, selling everything the same day it's made. That's how they keep it fresh.

I'd never actually tried Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang's mulhoe before — only heard about it — so I had high expectations. The broth was seriously delicious, the raw fish pieces were thick, and there was a good variety, haha. That day the special sushi set was exactly my style, so I picked it!

Ah, felt like forever since I'd been in the homerun couple zone — the weather and view at Landers Field were both amazing, and the Hoe-rmes spread looked pretty great from above too, haha. That day, with a genuinely thrilling game, hard liquor mixed with beer, plain draft beer, and family — I was so happy!

As far as I know, the sushi spots inside the stadium don't give you a cold bag, so packing it from Moraenae Market like this meant we could eat it cold, comfortable, and quick — score!

Mulhoe — the broth is the real kicker

The mulhoe had an insane variety of raw fish. Flounder, yellowtail, squid, abalone, tot (seaweed) and more, all packed in — I kept eating and eating and the portion barely seemed to shrink, which was wild, haha.

But the real kicker is this mulhoe broth!!!!! It's genuinely incredible, ugh. I forgot to add noodles and regretted it so much — please add them for me instead. Sob.

My friend and I have now sworn to always pack Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang's mulhoe whenever we go to the ballpark.

What's in the special sushi set

The special sushi set comes with flounder, salmon, tuna, raw shrimp, soy-marinated shrimp, seared salmon, and eel. Sushi made in advance is naturally a bit less impressive than freshly made, but this was still among the thicker, fresher cuts you'll find.

They even included soy sauce, fresh wasabi, and broth sauce, so it made for a really satisfying meal :) With a draft beer, my friend and I split the mulhoe and special sushi, and got so full there was no way we could try any more Landers Field food, lol. 31,000 won of insane value — very satisfied!
