Let me introduce 'Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch' 🍣😊
Why it became my favorite Moraenae Market sushi spot
Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch is my favorite sushi spot in Guwol-dong. Whenever I want sushi at Moraenae Market, this is naturally the first place I think of — this kind of set at this price isn't common, and when you factor in both quality and cost, the value is really excellent.

On days when I suddenly crave sushi, this is the spot I return to without a second thought 😋 Since it's a takeout-only shop, they save on extra operating costs like rent or staffing that a regular restaurant would have, and with high turnover they use a lot of fresh ingredients. They say they source good ingredients at competitive prices and use up whatever's prepped that day, the same day.
Location, hours, and how to get there
📍 55 Guwol-ro 276beon-gil, Namdong-gu, Incheon, South Korea 🚇 About 393m from Exit 3, Moraenae Market Station, Incheon Line 2
It's not hard to find. Walk a little past the central plaza of Moraenae Market and it's on the left, right across from a butcher shop. It's a convenient spot to grab sushi to go while browsing the market 😊
⏰ Daily 10:00–19:00 (closed Sept 25 for Chuseok) Moraenae Market is a neighborhood market that's open every day with no fixed market days! And Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch also runs daily from 10am to 7pm!

What's on the menu?
Looking at the menu — omakase sushi, special mixed sushi, special sushi, budget-friendly Moraenae sushi — there are really a lot of options. If you have a favorite fish, you can also order single-type sushi like flatfish, raw salmon, shrimp, engawa (fluke fin), or eel.

Besides sushi, there's mixed sashimi, flatfish sashimi, raw salmon sashimi, and a solo sashimi platter, plus rice-topped sashimi and mulhoe, a summer-only menu. You go in thinking you'll just get sushi and end up packing sashimi too 🤭

Ice pack, cooler bag, and free broth too
When you buy sushi or sashimi, they give you a free ice pack and cooler bag. It keeps everything fresh on the way home, and they tend to be generous with the soy sauce and wasabi.

I always ask for a bit more wasabi, and they gave me plenty of wasabi and soy sauce, plus a complimentary broth on top.

Just add hot water to the broth sauce in a paper cup and you instantly get a warm broth — great to pair with sushi at home.
Bringing it home
They packed the sushi and sashimi carefully so nothing shifted, and included an ice pack. On top of that, they gave me a cooler bag I can reuse at home, which is really practical! It made it easy to bring the fresh sushi and mixed sashimi bought at the market safely home and dig in right away.
Special sushi set, 10 pieces for ₩15,000 — taste review
🍣 Special sushi 10p / ₩15,000 Flatfish 2p + salmon 2p + akami (lean tuna) 1p + mekka (tuna belly) 1p + seared salmon 1p + soy-marinated shrimp 1p + freshwater eel 1p + garlic shrimp 1p
First, the rice is moist and the portion is just right, so the balance with the fish works well.
The flatfish has a clean, chewy texture — refreshing and easy to eat without feeling heavy.
The salmon is soft, moist, and has a rich, savory flavor. If you love salmon, you'll absolutely love this!

The akami has that clean, deep umami typical of tuna, while the mekka has a firm, chewy texture that's really appealing.

The seared salmon gets a slight char flavor, making it even more savory than regular salmon 🔥

My personal favorite is the soy-marinated shrimp sushi 🦐 The shrimp's springy texture paired with the salty-sweet umami of the soy sauce goes so well with the rice. The garlic shrimp adds a subtle garlic aroma to the springy shrimp for a nice change of pace.
The freshwater eel sushi has a soft, sweet sauce flavor that makes its presence known even in just one piece.

Overall the fish is thick-cut and fresh-tasting, and the rice isn't overdone, so you can still taste the fish clearly even through all 10 pieces. For this kind of set at ₩15,000, it's definitely a great-value menu.
Solo mixed sashimi platter, ₩15,000 with 5 kinds
🐟 Solo mixed sashimi / ₩15,000 Tuna, salmon, flatfish, sea bream, raw shrimp

The tuna is soft with a rich umami, and the salmon is moist and savory.
The flatfish has a chewy, clean taste, and the sea bream has a firm texture with a clean flavor.
The raw shrimp is springy with a subtle sweetness, nice to eat one at a time between other pieces 🦐 Each has a different texture and flavor, so it's fun to pick and choose across a single plate.

What's most surprising is that this solo mixed sashimi platter is only ₩15,000. Tuna, salmon, flatfish, sea bream, and raw shrimp all in one — enjoying this set at this price is truly great value. Eating the sushi and sashimi together makes for a filling meal, and it's also perfect for a simple drink at home.
Final thoughts
The reason I keep coming back to Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch as my favorite sushi spot in Guwol-dong ultimately comes down to price, portions, and freshness! It's easy to access inside Moraenae Market, and the menu is varied — from single sushi to mixed sushi, sashimi, mulhoe, and futomaki — so it's easy to pick whatever you're craving that day for takeout. If you're looking for a sushi spot at Moraenae Market and care about price too, this is a solid option.
For anyone looking for a solo sashimi platter, wanting to enjoy sushi comfortably at home, or hoping to share a variety of dishes with family, I recommend 'Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch' 🍣💚
