Last weekend, I went to Gwangalli ෆ I really wanted to go with my husband before summer was over, so we took a little overnight trip last weekend (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ) Our first meal was my soul food: sotbap, haha >< Those of you who read my blog a lot probably know this, but I am a total sotbap lover ..!! Haha, especially when it comes to pot rice for lunch—I have soooo many reviews ㅎㅎㅎ

Guide to enjoying pot rice

After looking around the restaurant and chatting for a bit, our full spread arrived. I really love a meal presented this neatly, haha.

The tray came with pot rice, salad, side dishes, a bowl for serving out the rice, and broth too.

Why I especially loved the boneless hairtail pot rice

Boneless hairtail pot rice. I really, really recommend this one!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 First, the hairtail is boneless, so you can just eat it without picking out bones—so convenient! And the hairtail is seriously delicious >_< !!! The pot rice also has seasoning that goes wonderfully with the fish, so it was unbelievably good .. I usually only ate pot rice topped with meat when I visited these places, but this boneless hairtail pot rice is a dish I will keep thinking about ..🫶🏻

Boneless hairtail pot rice

Look at that hairtail flesh ㅠㅠㅠ The pot-rice seasoning goes perfectly with the toppings, and the seasoning level is exactly right.. It is truly perfectly seasoned 👍🏻👍🏻 As expected of Solsot ... they really know how to make amazing pot rice.

Steak pot rice and yuringi too

Steak pot rice is honestly a guaranteed winner!! It had thick-cut steak on top, so the chew was great and it was so delicious,,, 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 There was a generous amount of meat, and the butter paired so well with the steak! Even next time, I think I would order the steak + hairtail combination. I cannot give up either one >_<

Thick-cut steak pot rice

I absolutely cannot give up the steak pot rice either ... hahaha. The two of us took turns digging in properly, haha. We did not leave even a tiny bit—we scraped up every last bite (っ˘ڡ˘ς)

Yuringi. The yuringi here is sooooo delicious too ;; I already knew Solsot was somewhere you can trust, so of course I knew the pot rice would be good—but honestly, I was not expecting much from the sides..?! But the yuringi here is truly special!!! That seasoned Cheongyang chili pepper is the key .. I absolutely recommend it ㅠㅠㅠ The chili pepper and yuringi combination is simply incredible ... The two of us cleared two pot rice dishes plus yuringi without leaving anything, nice and cleaaaan, so you can do it too!!

Yuringi with seasoned Cheongyang chili peppers

I was so focused on eating that I took the photo without realizing it was out of focus, hahaha... Ha! That is how delicious it was. Seriously, please try it ㅠㅠ

Finishing pot rice with scorched rice

Of course, scorched rice is the final course!! Every table had this scorched-rice powder.

Scorched-rice powder for pot rice

We sprinkled the scorched-rice powder into the pot, and it tasted somehow different from the broth usually served at pot-rice restaurants?? I personally like the slightly mild taste of sungnyung (scorched-rice tea), but my husband loved it because he said it tasted like ochazuke! My husband was so satisfied with both the pot rice and the final scorched rice that he picked Solsot as his number-one pot rice place so far, haha. As for me, I am 100% willing to return because of the boneless hairtail pot rice. Hairtail is already boneless, and having it in pot rice just doubles the deliciousness 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Especially the steak + boneless hairtail + yuringi combination we had!! Please try that exact combination. You will definitely love it 💖
