A seriously delicious Peking duck place that Mom raved about, saying, “It’s as good as what I had in Hong Kong!”

Mom and I went to Hong Kong last year, and when she said she wanted the Peking duck we had there, I immediately thought of this amazing Peking duck spot in Ingye-dong that I’d visited with friends. So I booked Gang's Duck right away and went back.

The atmosphere at Gang's Duck in Ingye-dong

Exterior

Gang's Duck is tucked inside Ingye-dong Box. In an area where places change so often, it’s one of those delicious restaurants that has held its ground for quite a while.

Walk up the stairs and you’ll see a fairly large wooden deck. There are tables and chairs, so it seems like it could become an outdoor drinking spot in the evening.

Everywhere you look, the place has that somewhere-between-Hong-Kong-and-Taiwan feel. It’s beautifully decorated, with a hip vibe—such a nice space.

The restaurant is quite large, with plenty of tables. It was busy at lunch, but the tables were spaced apart, so it still felt very comfortable. And because they’re round tables, everyone can reach the food even when you order a lot—another plus!

There’s also a clean restroom inside, which is another point that sets it apart from other Ingye-dong restaurants where the restroom is always dirty or you have to use the building’s shared one.

As you look around, you can see ducks for the Peking duck in the refrigerator, or ducks already roasted once to render out the fat. I feel a little sorry, but… these are the eyes of a food lover looking for the plumpest one.

Area for cooking Peking duck pancakes

This seems to be where they cook the thin pancakes served with the Peking duck. It almost looks like an interior display, and you can tell how much care the owner put into the space!

The basic setup for our reserved Peking duck

The moment we sat at the table we were shown, my name caught my eye on the tablet. Wow, the owner has such great attention to detail!

Peking duck takes a long time, so advance reservations are essential. Since we had booked ahead, the table was already set.

Then came the pancakes for wrapping the Peking duck. They were super thin yet chewy, and they gave us lots of them—so good!

The tablet explains how to enjoy the Peking duck! Open a pancake, add duck and all sorts of vegetables, dip it in the 야장 sauce, and pop it right in. Since it sounded so good, I had to try it myself.

Lunch-discount fish-fragrant eggplant rice bowl

We went at lunchtime, when the fish-fragrant eggplant rice bowl was discounted as a lunch menu item. This quality and this portion for only ₩11,000? Seriously, what an insane menu item and value.

Crispy, moist fried eggplant

The eggplant on top is, of course, crispy, but once you bite in, it’s incredibly moist too. Crispy outside, tender inside.

People of the world, please eat eggplant rice bowls. The eggplant is cut to just the right size and fried so it isn’t too tough—why would you not eat this delicious, steaming-hot thing!?

Chili sauce and white rice beneath the eggplant

Once I moved the eggplant aside, there was a reddish—not pale—interior. Chili sauce covered the white rice, and it wasn’t salty at all; the seasoning was just right.

If you go to Gang's Duck, please try the fish-fragrant eggplant. Please!

Half Peking duck, ₩39,000

Where else in the world can you enjoy Peking duck all to yourself for ₩39,000? It’s seriously delicious, and Gang's Duck has value falling from the heavens. No—God's Duck!! 🪽

A plate of great-value half Peking duck

The Peking duck comes in two main parts: moist, light meat and crispy skin.

Peking duck with meat and skin

Anyone who says, “Skip the skin,” can leave!! This skin was so delicious—crispy, nutty, and deep in flavor. Even Mom, who doesn’t usually like duck skin, kept eating only the skin.

Crispy, nutty Peking duck skin

Does that mean the meat wasn’t good? No wayyy. The tender meat is excellent as a given. Each piece is big, too, so if you come with a friend who takes two pieces at a time, you can tell them off and say one is enough!

The skin looks like it should be dipped in salt, but it’s actually sugar. A light dip brings out even more flavor.

For the meat, do as the owner suggested: lay down a pancake, add the meat, pile on lots of scallion and cucumber, then dip it in the 야장 sauce.

And this dream combination is complete. People of Suwon, why are you seriously not going to Gang's Duck!

Fried duck bones after the Peking duck

Just when we were thinking, okay, we’re getting full now, a plate suddenly flew in from somewhere (whooo is it?). It was fried duck bones. The kind of visual that automatically makes you say, “Wait… I didn’t order this?”

A plate of fried duck bones served after Peking duck

For people who order Peking duck, they give you the remaining bones after the meat is carved off, fried up. The seasoning on the outside is savory and salty, suddenly bringing your appetite right back—what a troublesome dish.

Seasoned fried Peking duck bones

Most pieces were tender parts like drumsticks and wings, so it was truly a delicious food-lover’s dessert. I can’t believe all of this was ₩39,000—unreal value. Gang's Duck is a seriously delicious restaurant near Suwon City Hall Station. Highly recommended 👍
