Seongsu café for rich lattes and matcha ice cream: Mellows

On a clear autumn day with a cool breeze, isn’t it such a lovely atmosphere to sit outside with dessert or a drink? Let me introduce Mellows (멜로우즈), a Seoul Forest mood café where you can have coffee and ice cream in the morning, then drinks in the evening. I had spotted it while walking near Ttukseom Station before, and its pretty brick look stayed in my mind—so I finally visited!

The weather was lovely, so the café was completely open, and you can enjoy that Seongsu-dong feeling too. The best thing about Seoul Forest mood café Mellows is that the prices are seriously cheap!!! I was so surprised! It feels cheaper than budget coffee chains.

What do coffee and soft serve cost?

Aren’t these prices incredible? Could this be the cheapest café in Seongsu-dong? An Americano is ₩2,500, a café latte ₩3,200, a vanilla latte ₩3,500, and a matcha latte ₩3,500. It’s Sangha Farm ice cream, no less, and it ranges from ₩3,500 to ₩4,500. The price varies by topping.

An evening menu to enjoy too

In the evening, Mellows is a place to relax over cocktails, highballs, and beer in a lovely atmosphere. It made me want a drink from the morning, you know? Light snacks are in the ₩7,000–₩8,000 range—somewhere like this in pricey Seongsu-dong?

There’s a detailed poster-like guide to the ice cream on the wall, so check out the base and toppings first! Seeing the Jeju matcha soft serve piled with matcha crunch at the bottom, how could I resist? Hahaha.

There’s even mango and strawberry soft serve topped with fruit! The prices are low, yet the toppings are piled high! This is a café where the ice cream really comes out looking like the picture.

With such nice weather, couples were outside being all cute together. Should we sit there too? We’re a slightly older couple, so we behaved ourselves and ate inside instead, hahaha.

We ordered a café latte and ice cream

Ta-da! The café latte and ice cream arrived. How much do you think all of this was? It came to about ₩11,000. Two menu items can be just ₩7,000. Crazy, right? A Ttukseom Station café you have to visit in this era of high prices.

Café latte ₩3,200

A café latte cheaper than at a budget café! The price surprised me first... wow.... You can switch to decaf too. And that goes for the affogato ice cream as well!

The coffee flavor is really rich! I don’t like watery lattes, but even as the ice melts, it keeps that deep latte flavor. The coffee is cheap and delicious too!

Matcha and affogato soft serve ₩4,000

The Sangha Farm ice cream came out beautifully. The price is just so good~~!! Affogato first!!!! When you pour the espresso over it yourself, it becomes ice cream full of coffee aroma, right?! I even slurped up every last bit of the melted coffee.

So many toppings inside—snap, photo time!! Even with the ice cream, they didn’t go soggy and stayed crisp. Is that why it’s called matcha crunch?

Scoop up the ice cream with the chocolate roll paper, yum yum. It’s delicious mixed together, and it’s delicious to eat the ice cream on top separately too.

If you’re looking for a beautifully atmospheric café near Seoul Forest or Ttukseom Station, I definitely recommend Mellows. The prices are so sweet to begin with~ the owner is kind~ and it was a café I was hugely satisfied with.

I want to come back at night too. On a beautiful autumn-like day, having a cocktail outdoors without too much noise makes for such a nice atmosphere, doesn’t it? Coffee and drinks are inexpensive too, so grab a takeaway when you pass by. Do you really need to come all the way to Seongsu-dong for a budget café? Have better coffee made with more delicious beans. Seoul Forest mood café Mellows was full of nothing but good points!
