When you hear "gimbap restaurant," you usually think of just gimbap (seaweed rice roll) or maybe ramen, but Uwol Gimbap, which I visited this time, has such a varied menu that it's great for a proper full meal! It's good whether you just want a simple roll of gimbap or want to order several dishes together for a hearty meal, so I wanted to introduce it to anyone looking for gimbap or bunsik near Ujangsan :)

Where is Uwol Gimbap and how do you order?

Uwol Gimbap is a gimbap and bunsik restaurant near Ujangsan Station, located at 10 Gangseo-ro 45ga-gil, 1st floor unit 103, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Before you even step inside, there's a kiosk set up out front where you can place your order. The menu: gimbap, omurice, pork cutlet and ramen

The menu board at Uwol Gimbap basically has all kinds of gimbap, plus familiar favorites like omurice, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), stews, pork cutlet, and ramen. On days when just gimbap feels a bit lacking but a heavy meal feels like too much, you can go for tteokbokki or ramen, and on days you want something more filling, you can pick pork cutlet or one of the set meals.

What the self-serve bar offers: broth and side dishes

On one side of Uwol Gimbap there's a self-serve bar where you can help yourself to broth and side dishes as needed. There's more than one type of side dish too — kimchi, anchovies, radish pickle, and more — so you can just take as much as you want, haha. When you're eating ramen, even just kimchi alone makes it so much better, right?~ Grabbing side dishes and broth from the self-serve bar before you start eating makes the meal feel even more filling.

What comes in the 12,000 won ramen set

The ramen set at Uwol Gimbap is ₩12,000, and it comes with everything from pork cutlet to ramen to gimbap, so it's a great choice on days you want to try several dishes at once. I ordered the ramen set, which let me taste multiple menu items in one go. When you want gimbap and ramen and pork cutlet all at once, ordering them all separately isn't as good as enjoying a set meal like this.

Ramen cooked firm, just the way it should be

I started with the ramen, and the noodles were cooked exactly the way I like them! They came out with just the right firm bite, haha. Eating it with kimchi and radish pickle on the side, I thought — this is exactly what ramen at a bunsik restaurant should taste like, right?~

Gimbap rolled fresh to order

The gimbap seemed to have been freshly made, because both the rice and the fillings felt warm and moist. I like dipping gimbap lightly into ramen broth, so I tried that combination again this time, and it worked really well as always. If you're looking for gimbap and bunsik near Ujangsan and want to eat gimbap and ramen together, I'd recommend trying this combo.

Hand-made pork cutlet and salad on the side

And of course, can't forget the pork cutlet that came with the set! The pork cutlet is hand-made, and it comes with a salad too, which made the meal feel even more complete. Pairing the crispy fried cutlet with the salad kept it from feeling too greasy, and with gimbap and ramen alongside it, I got to enjoy a lot more variety than if I'd just ordered one dish.

Keto aged-kimchi tuna gimbap for 8,000 won

The keto aged-kimchi tuna gimbap at Uwol Gimbap is ₩8,000, and the combination of aged kimchi and tuna mayo really worked well together. The sour, crunchy flavor of the aged kimchi combined with the savory tuna mayo, and the two balanced each other out nicely. It's a different combination from your typical gimbap, so it'd be good for anyone wanting to try something a bit different.
