In short

5PM sunset hour is a neighborhood bakery café in Yeongjong Haneul City, Incheon. Friends and I took out several breads and drinks, and the filling salt bread and mocha salt bread with coffee were especially satisfying. Verdict: a small but very good-value stop for bread and coffee.

When you visit cafés around Yeongjongdo often, there are so many pretty ones—but you know how the bill can suddenly climb once you pick coffee and just a few breadsㅠㅠ This time, though, I really liked 5PM sunset hour and wanted to share it with you~

5PM sunset hour café in Yeongjongdo

It is not a flashy, huge café, but the bread was delicious, the coffee was good, and the prices were kind too—a place I wanted to tell my friends about as soon as we left! If you love salt bread, this is a great Yeongjongdo spot to try.

Yeongjongdo salt bread café

Rather than a giant café you make a special trip to on a Yeongjongdo outing, it feels like a neighborhood café where you can casually enjoy tasty bread and coffee around Yeongjong Haneul City.

A small interior and outdoor terrace

The shop is on the compact side. There are about two seats inside, so it seemed better suited to takeaway customers.

There is outdoor terrace seating instead, which looked perfect for drinking coffee outside in the cool spring or fall weather.

When I looked in the display case, there were more desserts than I expected. Plain financiers were ₩2,800, almond financiers ₩3,200, and fig cream cheese and Valrhona chocolate financiers ₩3,500 each. Scones started at ₩2,800 for plain, with cranberry at ₩3,200, Lotus at ₩3,500, and Nutella chocolate chip at ₩3,800.

Salt bread menu

Generous salt bread and what we chose with friends

And what I was happiest with here was, of course, the salt bread! The original 5PM salt bread was ₩3,000, and the mocha salt bread was ₩3,800. These days, at other cafés, a single salt bread can cost quite a bit even when it is only fist-sized, but I loved that these were generously large from the start. Considering the price too, they felt like such good value! So this was the Yeongjongdo salt bread place I had been looking for!

Bread choices with friends

Since I was sharing with friends that day, I got a little greedy and ordered a mix: salt bread, mocha salt bread, a Valrhona chocolate financier, and a Nutella chocolate chip scone. We also took out four drinks~! There was even a set-menu discount, so it was seriously affordable~

The original salt bread was large enough to be pretty filling on its own, and its flavor was far from ordinary just because it was inexpensive. Personally, I would recommend the mocha salt bread too. It has a different, sweet appeal from the original and was great with coffee haha.

If you love chocolate, go for the Valrhona chocolate financier and Nutella chocolate chip scone too~ This is a dangerous place for people like me who cannot choose just one bread, haha. Since the prices were not burdensome overall, I kept adding this and that to my order^^;

Coffee that was as satisfying as the bread

When bread is inexpensive, I sometimes wonder whether I will have to compromise a little on the coffee—but the coffee was delicious too, which made this place even more satisfying. It is especially good for a simple salt bread-and-coffee combination, and it seems like a nice neighborhood café for people in Yeongjong Haneul City. I live in Unseo-dong, so I do not think I can come often... I wish we had a bakery like this there too...

  • Large salt bread for ₩3,000
  • A wide range of desserts besides salt bread, including financiers and scones
  • Bakery prices are generally affordable
  • The coffee was delicious as well as the bread
  • The shop is small with limited indoor seating, but it has an outdoor terrace

There are so many huge cafés on Yeongjongdo these days, but a café does not have to be big and flashy to make me want to return. 5PM sunset hour is a café I keep thinking about for its taste and prices rather than its size! What I liked most was being able to have salt bread that was larger than elsewhere at an easygoing price. It is also great for packing up a variety of breads to take home. If you are looking near Yeongjong Haneul City for a good Yeongjongdo salt bread spot or an affordable bakery café, it is worth stopping by. On a nice day, it would be lovely to take a salt bread and coffee out to the terrace and enjoy them slowly~
