Mini peach cake to go from a Haeundae, Busan café: Sijeunikeu

Today's post is a seasonal fruit cake recommendation 🎂

A fruit cake shop tucked into basement 1 of Shinsegae Centum City

My husband and I went shopping at Shinsegae Department Store's Centum City branch in Busan this weekend, our first proper outing together in a while. Before heading home, we wandered through the dessert corner on basement 1 of the food hall, and from across the floor a bright, fresh-looking dessert shop caught my eye — I could practically smell how refreshing it was. (I'm a total bread-and-cake person, haha ㅠㅎㅎㅎ)

That shop turned out to be Sijeunikeu Centum, the branch that's hot right now for its seasonal fruit cakes. (It's a Shinsegae dessert shop — there's also one at Shinsegae Gangnam!)

When we got to the store and checked the display case, it was packed with colorful, fresh seasonal fruit cakes. Living up to its reputation as a fruit cake spot near Centum City Station in Haeundae, Busan, the fruit quality really looked great.

When we visited, they had the three signature fruits of the current season ready to go.

My husband and I went back and forth for a while on which flavor to get, and ended up picking the mini-size peach cake, which supposedly pairs beautifully with the yogurt whipped cream, and had it packed up nicely to go.

The price: ₩38,000!

True to its reputation as a dessert spot, the packaging was thorough and neat, so we got it home safely. There was an ice pack included too, and it seemed fine for up to an hour of travel. (Of course, that's based on car travel = me, hehe.)

Unboxing the mini peach cake at home

As soon as we got home, we set up our home café and finally unboxed the Sijeunikeu peach cake! This Sijeunikeu cake café near Centum City Station in Busan even thoughtfully included a knife and candles (as many as we asked for)!

Being a mini size, it was just the right amount for the two of us to enjoy as dessert with nothing left over. Fresh peach flesh was generously packed not just on top but around the edges of the sponge too, so it passed the visual test immediately!

How was the yogurt whipped cream?

One bite in, I could tell it wasn't a regular milk-based whipped cream but a tangy yogurt whipped cream, and it was so much cleaner and less cloying — genuinely amazing. The whipped cream, which could easily turn greasy, got fully balanced out by the yogurt's freshness, and paired wonderfully with the sweetness of the crunchy peach.

My husband also ate it right to the end without any trouble, since it wasn't too sweet and had a nice tangy edge. It's the kind of cake you can pick up to go after a weekend date, or grab worry-free as a gift when you need an anniversary cake around Haeundae — a solid cake recommendation from this café near Centum City Station in Haeundae, Busan!
