IFC Mall snack restaurant with draft beer and tteokbokki: Hyeonseonine
In short
Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is a Korean snack restaurant (bunsik) on basement level 2 of IFC Mall in Yeouido, Seoul, directly connected to Yeouido Station and facing the GS convenience store. The Hyeonseoni set of broth tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), sundae (blood sausage), fried snacks and rice balls came in medium spice — about as hot as Shin Ramyun — and Hyeonseonine also serves draft beer with it. With station access and a generous set, Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is a solid after-work spot for beer and Korean snacks.

Today's post is about a great restaurant in Yeouido — Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki Premium IFC Mall Branch.

Where is Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch? Right by the subway corridor
Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki's Yeouido branch is in a building connected directly to the subway. We went down to basement level 2 of IFC Mall to get there.

Once you go down to B2 and enter the subway connecting corridor, there are restaurants along here.

Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki was located right across from a GS convenience store.

Inside Hyeonseonine: an electric burner at every table and a self bar
Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch has quite spacious seating, and takeout is available too.

We took a seat in the corner. Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki offers both broth tteokbokki and instant (table-cooked) tteokbokki, so there's an electric burner at every table.
They also sell fried peppers.

At the self bar, you can freely grab an apron, pickled radish, soy sauce, and tableware.
Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki is a chain, but it apparently has quite a long history.

Hyeonseonine menu and prices, ordered at the kiosk
Please check the menu board. Tteokbokki is priced at ₩6,000, which is pretty affordable — good value for money.

You order at the kiosk.

We ordered the Hyeonseoni set. The Hyeonseoni set includes tteokbokki, sundae (Korean blood sausage), fried snacks, rice balls, and more — a pretty varied combination.

How spicy is the medium broth tteokbokki? About like Shin Ramyun
This is Hyeonseonine's broth tteokbokki, and it was great that you can adjust the spice level. We went with medium. This was really good!!! There's mild, medium, and spicy — and even medium was Shin Ramyun-level heat, which was just the right amount of spicy-delicious.

Since it's broth tteokbokki, you can dip the fried snacks and sundae in the broth too. The rice cakes soaked up the seasoning nicely and were delicious.

They also gave us fish cake broth.

The sundae was glutinous rice sundae, so it was delicious too, with liver and lungs included.
Pickled radish! Since there's a self bar, you can just help yourself to anything you're missing.

The assorted fried snacks let you try a variety — gimmari (seaweed noodle roll), fried squid, dumplings, vegetable fritters, and more.

Draft beer with Korean snacks: what Hyeonseonine does well
And here's what's great about Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki: they have draft beer, so you can drink beer here. Being able to have beer and Korean snacks together is a rare treat, isn't it.

The rice balls came piled high with seaweed flakes. And thoughtfully, they gave us plastic gloves too.

They're shaped into round, easy-to-eat rice balls, so it was convenient to just pick them up one by one.

The broth tteokbokki portion was pretty generous, and it had fish cake in it too.
See how chewy and plump the rice cakes look? The texture was soft and chewy too. I get why Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki is famous as a great restaurant.

The sundae was delicious too.

Dipping tteokbokki in the broth is just truth, isn't it.
Fried squid — the fried squid was snow white.

A Yeouido snack restaurant worth a beer stop after work
With the Hyeonseoni set you can eat quite generously, and it's very accessible right by the station. Above all, the value for money was great, and the tteokbokki and sundae were delicious. It would also be good for a simple beer and tteokbokki after work in the evening.

If you're looking for a great restaurant in Yeouido, near Yeouido Station, or a Korean snack restaurant at IFC Mall, I recommend this place.
