Dongtan pho restaurant with free noodle add-ons at 11am: Mibundang

I'm not great with strongly spiced food, but Mibundang's pho barely has that distinctive Vietnamese spice smell — clean-tasting and generous in portion, too. It's the first place that comes to mind whenever I crave pho. It's also great for eating solo and the place is clean and comfortable, so here's my write-up on Mibundang, a pho spot near Dongtan Station that I visit often.

Where is Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch, and where do you park?

Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch sits right next to Dongtan Station, so it's easy to reach by public transport, and there's a basement parking lot in the building for drivers. It's right on a big main road, easy to spot as you pass by — a good stop when you're looking for a lunch or dinner spot.

How the 11am opening rush and kiosk queue work

I did the opening rush again this time — since it's such a well-known pho spot in Dongtan, plenty of other people were also waiting before the doors opened, just like me.

There are chairs out front so waiting is comfortable, and the kiosk opens about 1–2 minutes before the 11am opening, so you just order in order and go in.

You don't need to write your name on a waiting list, and since you can order in advance, once you're seated your food comes out before long. The waiting system being this simple was a nice touch.

Next to the kiosk, there are parasols and cold water set out for people waiting — a thoughtful detail that makes the wait more comfortable.

Is the bar seating good for eating alone?

Mibundang's atmosphere is a bit different from a typical pho restaurant.

The long bar-style solo seats running along the kitchen made it really comfortable to eat alone, and even when visiting with others, the mood leans quiet and focused on the meal rather than loud chatter — which I actually liked.

Behind the tables there are hooks for hanging coats or bags,

and utensils and napkins are stored in a drawer under the table, so it's easy to use.

The place itself isn't huge, but nothing feels wasted — sauces are kept on a shelf up on the wall so the table itself stays clear for focusing on the meal.

Brisket, flank and tendon pho: three cuts of beef in one bowl

You can watch the cooking happen in the kitchen, which is kept clean and gave me extra peace of mind. Once the bowl arrives, the first thing that catches your eye is the generous pile of meat on top.

If you come to Mibundang, the must-try is their popular brisket-tendon pho.

It's Mibundang's signature dish, and just as the name suggests, you get three meat toppings — brisket point cut, brisket, and tendon — all in one bowl. It's piled so high you can barely see the noodles underneath, which looks satisfying just by itself!

The brisket point cut had a savory, tender bite, and the pieces were nice and big without being chewy. The brisket comes shredded thin for easy eating, with a clean, meaty flavor.

Why the tendon at Mibundang is worth ordering on its own

One reason I love Mibundang is this tendon. You might think tendon sounds tough and hard, but here it's really soft and chewy.

It has that springy, tender texture you get from jokbal (braised pig's trotters), getting tastier the more you chew — so if you like that, there's also a pho with just tendon in it. My husband has ordered only the tendon pho since his second visit.

Even if you like pho, strong spice smells can sometimes be a lot — but Mibundang barely has that smell, which I liked.

The broth is clean, and eaten with the meat it has a subtly deep flavor, easy to enjoy without any hesitation — so it might be worth a try even for people who usually avoid Vietnamese or other foreign food because of the spices.

How to get the free noodle and bean sprout add-ons

And here's another perk of Mibundang! With one menu item ordered per person, you can add noodles and bean sprouts for free. If you run low during the meal, just ask a staff member — they also check in mid-meal to see if you need anything, so it's easy to ask for a refill.

The pho portion is already pretty generous on its own, and being able to add noodles and bean sprouts on top made it feel great value and satisfyingly filling.

The assorted appetizer platter as a side

We love fried food too, so we usually order a side when we visit a pho place — this time we went with the assorted platter so we could try several appetizers at once.

You get to try buffalo wings, shrimp-wrapped potato rolls, and sweet potato or scallop cha gio (fried spring rolls) together, making the meal even more filling.

Why a repeat visit to Mibundang Dongtan Station was still worth it

This was a repeat visit, and it was just as satisfying coming back. The quiet, comfortable bar table made it great for eating solo, and even with company, the atmosphere stayed calm enough to focus on the meal. And the taste — need I even say more!
