A while back, after watching Odyssey on a date at Gangnam Station, I saw a photo of the side dishes here and the visuals were insane — I knew I had to come. That was Kkondae Kim Bujang Gogi-jip Gangnam Station Branch! I finally made it this time~~ Staff grill the meat for you here, and even the basic side dishes were really well done, plus the place is spacious, so I'd recommend it as a Gangnam Station spot for work dinners or group gatherings.

Where is Kkondae Kim Bujang Gogi-jip Gangnam Station Branch?

Exterior entrance of the BBQ restaurant on Gangnam-daero 98-gil

It's about a 5-minute walk from Gangnam Station Exit 11 or Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 6, so access is great! Being right between the two stations makes it easy to set as a meeting spot.

How big is the restaurant? Group tables and free corkage

It was really spacious as soon as I walked in! I went right before closing on a Sunday, so I could eat leisurely, but apparently on weekdays they get a lot of group reservations as a popular spot. And it's free corkage here! That matters a lot for anyone who likes drinking at work dinners or group gatherings~~

Further inside there's a big area set up for group seating too. The tables are spaced generously, so it wouldn't feel cramped even with a big group. Anyone looking for a Gangnam Station group gathering spot would probably love it for the space alone.

What side dishes come in the basket?

A basket full of side dishes covering the table

Honestly, I came here entirely lured in by these visuals. I couldn't tell if I was at a BBQ place or a full-spread restaurant — the huge basket of house-made side dishes filled the whole table before the meat even arrived~~

Acorn jelly, spicy vinegared squid, myeongnan-jeot (seasoned pollock roe), eoriguljeot (salted oyster), pink sausage pancake, shiitake mushroom pancake, kimchi, and more... It wasn't just a lot of dishes for the sake of filling the table — each one was actually good on its own. Having things like myeongnan-jeot and eoriguljeot on the table was genuinely surprising, and the portions were generous enough that you could finish a whole bowl of rice on these alone!

Raw aged pork belly on a plate

Aged pork belly 200g for two, grilled over charcoal by the staff

What we ordered at this Gangnam Station BBQ spot was aged pork belly 200g at ₩18,900* for 2 servings! Just look at the color of the meat first. It looked fresh right away, with really nice color. It's pork belly that goes through Kkondae Kim Bujang's own aging process!

Pork belly grilling on a charcoal grill

Staff grill the meat here, so there's no need to keep flipping it yourself at the grill — I could just enjoy the side dishes while it cooked. So nice, honestly. They also use premium charcoal, and once the grilling started, a faint charcoal smell drifted up that made me insanely hungry~!

Golden, perfectly cooked aged pork belly

Seeing the pork belly all golden and perfectly cooked like this made me so happy!!!!! The smell of the meat grilling alone was amazing, and once it was cooked to just the right point, I couldn't wait to grab a piece.

And this pork belly is genuinely delicious. Honestly, I came here lured in by the side dishes at first, right? But the meat exceeded expectations too, so it was a max-happiness day. Maybe because it's aged, the texture was great, and grilled over charcoal it had that subtle smoky flavor that kept me reaching for more.

I'm also a wrap-veggie lover, so the condition of the lettuce matters a lot to me when eating meat, and here the wrap veggies were great too! They were fresh and crisp, perfect for piling on a piece of meat along with various side dishes.

A lettuce wrap piled with meat and side dishes

And with so many kinds of side dishes, it's fun to switch up the combination every time you eat a piece of meat. Topping it with eoriguljeot, then with myeongnan-jeot, then wrapping it in lettuce~~ With such variety, the pork belly never got boring — it kept tasting new.

I really tried to hold back today... but how do you resist soju in front of delicious pork belly? Ended up having a glass~~

Is the ₩9,900 Kim Gwajang Bomb bibim guksu really three portions?

A mixing bowl piled high with bibim guksu
Kim Gwajang Bomb bibim guksu, ₩9,900

I ordered this one out of pure curiosity, honestly. Bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles) for ₩9,900! Under ten thousand won yet supposedly enough for 3 people, so I was curious just how much they'd give. But the moment it arrived, I was a little startled.

It came in a bowl the size of a mixing basin, absolutely packed with noodles. The portion was so big it was almost hard to lift with tongs — this really is 3 servings... Isn't this insane value for money? I ordered it as a side while eating meat, but it turned out to be a main-course-sized portion, not a side at all.

But it wasn't just the portion that impressed me — it was tasty too;; The bibim guksu is seasoned sweet and tangy, so having a bite between mouthfuls of meat felt like a palate cleanser. It paired really well with the pork belly, so I kept going back for more between bites of meat.

Eating a piece of meat together with the bibim guksu made it instantly next-level delicious~~ I also tried topping it with a bit of the eoriguljeot that came alongside, and that combo worked better than expected too. With such varied side dishes, this is definitely a place where mixing and matching is part of the fun!

Is Kkondae Kim Bujang Gogi-jip a good Gangnam Station work dinner spot?

I was originally curious about this Gangnam Station BBQ spot purely for the side-dish visuals, but after actually eating there, everything from the meat to the bibim guksu was satisfying overall. The place is spacious with good group seating, so I'd especially recommend it to anyone looking for a spot for a Gangnam Station work dinner, meetup, or group gathering. Having staff grill the meat for you was convenient, and free corkage made it easy for a group to visit — Kkondae Kim Bujang Gogi-jip Gangnam Station Branch~~
