Siheung Baegot eel buffet lunch, body cuts only: Songnim Bok Jangeo
In short
Songnim Bok Jangeo Unlimited Freshwater Eel Siheung Baegot Direct Branch is an all-you-can-eat freshwater eel restaurant in the Baegot central shopping district of Siheung, Gyeonggi. Two adults arrived for lunch right at the 11:30 opening and paid 32,900 won per adult including the table setting fee, then refilled eel, pork belly and duck neck from the self-serve bar, with the fun of picking out only the thick body cuts of eel. On this repeat visit the eel was just as thick and well cooked as before, making Songnim Bok Jangeo a good lunch for restoring energy.

August is finally passing and the weather is starting to cool down a bit! Between all the events in August and September, I'm at the age where my body just feels drained... so I decided it was time to go back to Songnim Bok Jangeo. This is a spot a lot of people already know as a recommended restaurant in Baegot. I'd been once before, and this revisit was just as satisfying.

Where is Songnim Bok Jangeo in Siheung Baegot, and is there parking?

Songnim Bok Jangeo Siheung Baegot Direct Branch is right in the Baegot central commercial district, so it was easy to find! Parking in the building is free for 2 hours, which was a relief since parking around Baegot can otherwise be a hassle.

The inside is nicely clean like this. We went right at the 11:30 opening, and more people showed up for lunch than I expected! Apparently offices these days do lunchtime team dinners, and there was even a group of coworkers in for that.

How much is the eel buffet? 32,900 won with the table setting fee
Here's the menu! The adult all-you-can-eat course plus table setting fee comes to 32,900 won. The two of us just went for the all-you-can-eat course. Eel is really best enjoyed with bokbunja, but since we came for lunch this time, unfortunately I'll have to save that combo for another visit. They definitely had drinks like bokbunja and Ilpum Jinro that pair well with eel. Definitely a Baegot restaurant worth recommending!

Side dishes at Songnim Bok Jangeo, including green onion kimchi
The basic side dishes come out like this. They're all good pairings to eat alongside the eel. That green onion kimchi especially — seriously amazing! So delicious. Lettuce, ssamjang (dipping sauce) and sesame oil dip are all available at the self-serve bar too, so keep that in mind!

At first they bring out eel, pork belly and duck neck all prepared like this. It felt like a neatly arranged table setting. Even on this revisit, the eel was just as thick as before, and the pork belly and duck neck had really good color too.

How the self-serve bar works: picking only eel body cuts to refill
At the Songnim Bok Jangeo self-serve bar you can refill extra side dishes plus eel, pork belly and duck neck, all unlimited! There's also chili peppers, garlic, ssamjang and lettuce wraps, so if you want to pair those with the pork belly and duck neck, you can grab plenty.

The eel quality at the self-serve bar... it's exactly the same as what came out first. There was truly so much of it prepared that I could grab as much as I wanted without any hesitation. There are also both body and tail sections, so you can choose whichever part you prefer! I like the body more than the tail, so I kept refilling with only body cuts :)
We always put the eel, pork belly and duck neck all on the grill together for the first round. Since eel takes a bit longer to cook, the goal is to grill everything at once so we can fill up in one go.

How thick is the eel, and what to eat it with
Just look at the size of this eel... is this really all-you-can-eat quality? I was amazed the last time I came, and this time it made me marvel all over again. Isn't this seriously worth recommending as a Baegot restaurant, haha.

Once the eel was fully grilled, the first bite had to be eel on its own! The eel was so thick that the texture was fantastic. The meat felt firm and dense, if that makes sense. So delicious!!
Looking at it again, it's really thick and huge eel. And this is all-you-can-eat...!

Personally, I found it tastiest paired with baek-kimchi (white kimchi) and teriyaki sauce with ginger. The crunchy texture of the white kimchi went so well with the eel!

Pork belly and duck neck at Songnim Bok Jangeo if you bring kids
The duck neck was totally amazing too! The pork belly quality was really good as well. We refilled both the duck neck and pork belly at least once each, they were that good. Kids might not like eel, so having pork belly and duck neck to eat is a nice option :) A Baegot restaurant recommendation that kids would enjoy too!

Once a full batch of eel is grilled, you need to refill and put more on the grill right away to keep things going without a break. As I mentioned earlier, I kept grabbing more of my favorite part, the body cuts, to add on. The refilled eel was just as good as what came out at first.

Wrapped in perilla leaves like this, it's absolutely delicious too! It had been so long since I'd had eel that I honestly lost count of how much I ate :) This was a revisit to Songnim Bok Jangeo in Baegot after my first visit, and the quality hadn't dropped at all — if anything, it seemed even better. I'd been pretty worn out lately, and this really felt like getting my energy back!
