Gangnam Station Korean restaurant for two: barley arancini at Moa

In short

Moa Gangnam is a fusion Korean restaurant up the slope from Gangnam Station Exit 11 in Gangnam, Seoul. On this fourth or fifth visit, two people ordered three dishes — barley doenjang arancini at 15,800 won, fern cream meatballs at 24,900 won, and spicy buckwheat noodles with flounder at 16,800 won — and left full. Moa Gangnam works equally well for a team lunch, a wedding-invitation get-together or a date, and a reservation is the safe choice in the evening.

A hot Korean restaurant near Gangnam Station — Moa Gangnam

This is already my fourth or fifth time at Moa Gangnam! It's great for team dinners with my Gangnam Station coworkers too, so I used to come often for lunch — always crowded, always a waiting spot, so for dinner I made sure to book ahead this time! Everything here tastes so good I trust the place completely — Moa Gangnam!

How to find Moa Gangnam from Gangnam Station Exit 11

Moa Gangnam is located just up a slight uphill slope after going straight from Gangnam Station Exit 11. It's also close to Yeoksam Station Exit 4.

They keep the outdoor tables open, so that window seat looked nice too haha.

Young, stylish atmosphere at the entrance of Moa Gangnam

A great Korean restaurant with a young, stylish feel — almost like a Western dining spot.

What does Moa Gangnam look like inside?

Moa Gangnam has a wood-toned interior with soft lighting, the kind of space that doesn't get old no matter how many times you visit. On one side a group that looked like a wedding-invitation gathering was having a lively good time, and on the other, a couple was quietly on a date.

This atmosphere is probably why it works so well for everything — Gangnam Station dates, wedding-invitation meetups, office team dinners.

Just the two of us ordered so much, haha.

Barley doenjang arancini, 15,800 won

Moa Gangnam's barley doenjang arancini is a Korean-style arancini — a crispy fried rice roll made from bulgogi (marinated beef) risotto, served with doenjang (fermented soybean paste) for dipping. Three round, hefty balls came lined up on the plate, and they looked so appetizing!

The outside was golden and crispy, and the moment I cut it open with a fork, steam rose up.

Bite into it and you get bulgogi mixed through moist rice grains.

A light dip in the doenjang adds a mellow, savory note that balances out the richness of the fried coating.

I couldn't believe such a hearty rice filling was packed inside that crispy shell — it's like a fried rice ball, but even better.

A bite-sized piece of the doenjang arancini picked up

Because it's doenjang-based, it's not overpowering and has a flavor almost anyone would enjoy — I'd recommend this to anyone curious about reinterpreted Korean dishes while looking for a good Korean restaurant near Gangnam Station. 🫶

Fern cream meatballs, 24,900 won

The fern cream meatballs are made by stir-frying meatballs in a fragrant sauce of fern pesto mixed with cream. Of the three dishes, this was the heartiest.

Large, hamburg-steak-sized fern cream meatballs

I thought "meatballs" meant small little balls, but they came out much bigger, more like hamburg steak patties — the heartiest dish of the day.

The mushroom cream sauce's aroma spreads strongly as soon as the plate comes close.

The soft meat texture stays intact, and with the cream sauce coating the outside, one spoonful carries a rich aroma.

Moa Gangnam is really skilled at making hamburg-steak-style meat dishes tender, so if you like meat and have a big appetite, this menu might be exactly your thing! A truly hearty, filling dish!

Spicy buckwheat noodles with flounder, 16,800 won

The spicy buckwheat noodles with flounder is a dish of chilled buckwheat noodles topped with a spicy sauce and flounder. The first bite is tangy and spicy, followed by the light, clean flavor of the flounder.

The buckwheat noodles were cooked chewy without breaking apart, and I liked how smoothly they slurped down.

It also worked as a palate cleanser between the spicier dishes, so it was perfect to alternate with the other menus. Recommended for anyone who likes tangy-sweet sauces or buckwheat makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles)!

Is Moa Gangnam a good meeting spot near Gangnam Station?

This was already my fourth or fifth visit to Moa Gangnam, and every time I come, I notice one thing: the reason it's always crowded is in every single dish.

Food spread out on the table with the Moa Gangnam dining room in view

It's Korean food, yet somehow unfamiliar; it feels like Western food, yet is comforting like Korean food — that ambiguous line is fun to rediscover every time. 🖤 Great for a lunch team dinner with coworkers, a casual meetup with friends, gathering with wedding invitation news, or even a date or blind date — it never feels out of place. There's a reason this Korean restaurant near Gangnam Station suits dates, wedding-invitation gatherings, and office team dinners alike. There can be a wait in the evenings, so I'd recommend booking ahead.
