A restaurant specializing in 33 kinds of noodle dishes, plus pork cutlet, rice, and snack menus — a great place to pick whatever suits your mood. As a ballet instructor working at a ballet academy near Seongbok Station, I casually asked my students if they'd been, and they said the food was good, so I was even more excited going in.

Lunch peak waiting scene at Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji

How long is the wait at lunch peak?

I visited right after class during the lunch peak, and yes, there was a wait — proof this really is a popular spot near Seongbok Station. Luckily turnover wasn't slow, and after joining the on-site waitlist through Catch Table, I got in under 10 minutes.

Inside Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji and ordering at the kiosk

Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji has a fairly spacious dining room, with clean interior design and a well-maintained, comfortable feel. Everyone from older customers to office workers, groups meeting up, and friends were all enjoying their meals.

I sat down and ordered through the kiosk, then took a sip of water and was pleasantly surprised — it wasn't just plain water but ice water. Maybe a small thing, but it was another satisfying detail!

Ice water on the table before ordering

With so many menu options, I agonized over what to order and finally settled on four dishes: Chilseong Haemul Bical (spicy mixed kalguksu), handmade buckwheat kongguksu, real cheese pork cutlet, and nostalgic tteokkkochi.

Tray with pickled radish, rice, and soup served together

How to eat Chilseong Haemul Bical (seafood bibim kalguksu)

For the Chilseong Haemul Bical, they explained you eat the kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) noodles first, then mix the rice into the leftover sauce. It came on a tray with pickled radish, rice, and soup all together — the whole neat spread felt nice.

Chilseong Haemul Bical topped with shrimp and chives

Chewy kalguksu noodles topped with big, plump shrimp and chives — the visuals alone were a treat for the eyes as much as the mouth. True to its name, the seafood ('haemul') aroma was strong, with just a hint of spiciness that made it delicious. One bite in, I immediately understood why they told me to mix the rice into the sauce.

A bowl of handmade buckwheat kongguksu with rich soy milk broth

How was the soybean broth in the handmade buckwheat kongguksu?

The handmade buckwheat kongguksu (chilled soy milk noodle soup) at Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji had a rich, not-too-thin soy milk broth that was really appealing. Plenty of older customers were eating it too, and as someone who already likes kongguksu, it suited my taste perfectly. I normally don't add salt or sugar to kongguksu and eat it with kimchi instead — the plain, nutty flavor was exactly right.

Real cheese pork cutlet served in four pieces

Is the real cheese pork cutlet good for sharing?

The cheese pork cutlet I split with a friend came freshly fried and warm, with 4 pieces total. Crispy on the outside with generous cheese inside — it exceeded expectations.

With so much cheese packed in, one bite stretched into a long cheese pull. Side dishes are good too, but if you and your crew eat a lot like us, I'd recommend ordering just this one to share — it's amazing!!! (Just make sure to eat it before it cools.)

Two nostalgic tteokkkochi skewers served for dessert

Nostalgic tteokkkochi (rice cake skewers) to finish the meal

After the meal, I finished up with the nostalgic tteokkkochi as a palate cleanser. It comes with 2 skewers total, and true to the name, it was pure nostalgia!! The sweet-and-spicy sauce with the chewy rice cake was the perfect way to wrap things up.

A very filling, satisfying lunch overall. The owner was also very kind and welcoming. I recommend Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji Main Branch as a great restaurant near Seongbok Station in Suji, Yongin.
