Tteokkkochi and bibim jjolmyeon after a Seongbokcheon walk in Suji

In short

Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji Main Branch is a noodle restaurant on the 1st floor of Seohee Star Hills, 80 Seongbok 1-ro, Suji-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi. After a walk along Seongbokcheon stream, the writer visited with a child for charcoal beef jjolmyeon (spicy chewy noodles), pork cutlet, Daegu Bukseong-ro udon, and nostalgic tteokkkochi (rice cake skewers), with baby chairs and a kids' set on hand. The tteokkkochi tasted exactly like the ones sold outside school gates — the most memorable bite of the meal.

The autumn sky was so clear this weekend 💙 I was walking along Seongbokcheon stream and got hungry, so I stopped by Chilseong Jemyeonso, a Suji Seongbok-dong spot I'd been wanting to review 💕

Snapping photos of that gorgeous autumn sky as I walked, I spotted the lucky number "7" on the left — that's Chilseong Jemyeonso, my Suji Seongbok-dong go-to 😍

Location and hours of Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji Main Branch

This is a noodle specialty restaurant where chewy noodles meet deep, rich broth — they brew their broth in a cauldron and carefully make jjolmyeon, udon, buckwheat noodles, and regular noodles, plus hearty bibimbap too.

How's parking here?

Walking along Seongbokcheon stream, you'll see the Seohee Star Hills building — there's a basement parking lot inside, and you can also park for free right on the street in front of the store!

The weather was so nice I took photos of the exterior, which just put me in a good mood 😍

Why it's great to come with kids

There were a lot of customers inside, so I only photographed the empty seats 📷 They have a kids' pork cutlet set and plenty of baby chairs, so it seems really good for coming with children 👍 My little one sits nicely these days too, which makes eating out so much easier 😆

What we ordered and the prices

There were so many menu items it was really hard to choose 🥹

  • Charcoal beef jjolmyeon (₩14,500)
  • 100% domestic whole sirloin pork cutlet (₩13,500)
  • Daegu Bukseong-ro udon (₩8,500)
  • Nostalgic tteokkkochi, 2pc (₩3,000)

Charcoal beef jjolmyeon

A bowl of charcoal beef bibim jjolmyeon
Close-up of bibim jjolmyeon topped with vegetables and beef

Colorful, crunchy vegetables arranged neatly, tossed together with carefully made chewy noodles and a sweet-spicy sauce — this bibim jjolmyeon would win over anyone, young or old. Add charcoal-smoked beef for extra protein~! Loads of vegetables and plenty of protein, so it's kind of a jjolmyeon you'd want to eat while dieting…? (Except it's so delicious you'll end up eating a ton anyway, right? haha)

Too pretty to mix..😍 The vegetables were fresh, there was plenty of beef, and the noodles were bouncy and chewy — I really enjoyed it~!

100% domestic whole sirloin pork cutlet

Full set meal with the 100% domestic whole sirloin pork cutlet

Maybe because it's made with a whole cut of domestic Korean pork just as the name says, the meat was thick, and fresh out of the fryer it was perfectly crispy outside, juicy inside~! Glossy rice and cutlet dipped in sauce is delicious,

and eating it together with the jjolmyeon is fantastic too — the spiciness of the noodles cuts right through the richness 👍

Daegu Bukseong-ro udon

Daegu Bukseong-ro udon with a fish cake skewer
Close-up of the udon noodles and broth

Unlike udon noodles elsewhere, these were a bit thinner, and the broth seemed to soak in better, making it taste even richer~! Thick udon noodles can end up bland because the broth doesn't penetrate well, but Chilseong Jemyeonso's noodles were softer and better seasoned, so I could really enjoy the flavor of the udon~! I also love fish cake, and there was a fish cake skewer thrown in too, which really amped up that street-food feeling alongside the tteokkkochi~!

Nostalgic tteokkkochi (2pc)

Long, chewy rice cake sticks fried once, then generously coated in a sweet-spicy sauce like seasoned fried chicken sauce — that's the nostalgic tteokkkochi 🍡 Generous portion too… and yes, that's exactly the flavor we all remember…! Nowhere really sells that kind of tteokkkochi these days, and I'd been craving it so much, so I'm so thankful Chilseong Jemyeonso serves it 🥹👍 I inhaled it the second it arrived!!

You've got to bite into tteokkkochi like this, right? haha The nostalgic tteokkkochi they used to sell for ₩500 in front of school, in front of the piano academy!! It tasted exactly like that, and it really brought back memories ㅠㅠ

Information on the Chilseong Jemyeonso menu stamp challenge

There's also a stamp challenge event

If you order every menu item at Chilseong Jemyeonso, this Suji Seongbok-dong favorite, and collect all the stamps, you get a ₩50,000 meal voucher — worth trying~~ I walk here often or stop by the nearby mart, so I'm going to keep re-re-re-revisiting and take on the stamp challenge 🙌
