Interior and outdoor terrace tables at the jokbal restaurant near Sanghyeon Station

This time I visited Cheongdam Jokbal Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Branch, near Sanghyeon Station in Gwanggyo 😊 There's indoor seating plus an outdoor terrace, so it seemed like a perfect spot for jokbal (boiled pork trotters) and makgeolli (rice wine) on a nice day!

Above all, the value for money and the food composition looked good, so I decided to visit~~ I also liked that dine-in orders come with free makguksu (buckwheat noodles)! Parking was easy too — you can use the building's parking lot free for up to 2 hours.

What we ordered, the side dishes, and a warning about the spicy sauce

We ordered the extra-large freshly boiled jokbal for ₩59,000 and a seaweed rice ball for ₩4,000. Most of the ingredients were domestically sourced, which made me even happier about it haha.

After a short wait, the basic side dishes came out along with bean sprout soup. There were about three sauces too, and the spicy one in the middle was seriously intense~~! We'd originally planned to order the spicy fire jokbal, but the staff member warned us it was really spicy... and said they make it with that same middle sauce. After tasting it, it was way too spicy, so we skipped the fire jokbal haha.

Complimentary makguksu and bean sprout soup

The bean sprout soup was refreshing and clean-tasting, which paired nicely with the jokbal. Both kinds of kimchi were delicious too! Then the complimentary makguksu arrived, and the sauce was tastier than expected~~! Clean and satisfying. It was even better eaten alongside the jokbal.

Seaweed rice ball

And then the seaweed rice ball arrived! Loaded with flying fish roe and mayonnaise, which made it even tastier~~!!

The extra-large freshly boiled jokbal — how big is the portion?

And then the jokbal we'd been waiting for arrived~~!! Since it's freshly boiled jokbal, it was nice to eat it still warm, and the portion was generous enough to share among several people.

We asked for extra lettuce wraps twice partway through, and the staff brought them over kindly. The lettuce was washed thoroughly and stayed clean right to the end.

Bonus barbecue-grilled salt jokbal

At the end, they surprised us with a complimentary serving of freshly grilled barbecue salt jokbal — warm and delicious straight off the grill~~!! They kept checking throughout the meal whether we needed gloves or anything else and brought them right over, which I really appreciated~~

Drink menu featuring Neurin Maeul four-season makgeolli

Makgeolli will have to wait for next time

Looking at the menu, I noticed they also sell Neurin Maeul four-season makgeolli (rice wine). It seemed like it would pair perfectly with jokbal, but since I drove that day, I couldn't drink 🥹 Next time I want to come by public transit so I can try it together!

Overall, the food tasted good, the jokbal portion was generous, and the free makguksu made the whole meal feel satisfying. The side dishes were tasty and the staff service was great, so it was a genuinely pleasant meal! With the weather cooling down and outdoor terrace tables available, I'd love to come back on a nice day for jokbal and makgeolli on the terrace 🍻
