Large café in Yangju with lawn-garden views and sofa seats: Moonbird

Here's a large café in Yangju called Moonbird that I stopped by after having a meal nearby yesterday. It looks great for bringing kids and seems to have a reputation as a dessert spot too — the reviews are massive. Parking is above the building, and it was nearly full, so I'd recommend visiting outside peak hours for an easier time.

The lawn garden and the kids-allowed zone at Moonbird

There's a wide lawn garden out front of the single-story building. The building is split roughly down the middle, with the left side as the kids-allowed zone and the right side as a no-kids zone, which is useful to know if you're visiting with children. I imagine it would look even prettier on a clear, sunny day.

This is the terrace in front of Moonbird's lawn. You can let the kids run around while sipping coffee quietly further back and enjoying the space at your own pace. As a proper large café, one of its strengths is having so many different areas to use.

This side is the YES kids zone. Even though it's single-story, the ceilings are built high, so it never feels cramped at all. It's spacious too, so there seemed to be no issue with room even for a family group. These days a lot of places run no-kids policies, but you don't need to worry about that here.

There are lots of wide windows facing the lawn side of Moonbird. You get a beautiful view where apartments and nature blend together right at the window. Looking back at it, I do wish the weather had been better that day. Still, since the weather's turned cooler lately, the kids were running around happily.

Moonbird's dessert showcase and no-kids zone

Browsing the dessert showcase before ordering drinks. There's a general bakery menu in the middle too, but since we'd just eaten, I was suddenly craving dessert, so I mostly looked at the cakes. It's fig season right now, so there was a fig cake too, and the dessert lineup was quite varied. Coming all the way out to the suburbs and just having coffee felt like a waste, so we ordered one cake and two drinks!

We came over to the no-kids zone across the way. The view through the front windows was really good. Couples, families, people studying — customers of all different ages were using the café. If I lived nearby, this seems like the kind of place I'd want to come clear my head and get some work done sometimes. The music playing from the speaker in the back corner was nice too.

The wide floor-to-ceiling windows are in the no-kids zone too. No matter where you look from, it really is pretty. So I figured customers of any age would enjoy the view. After always going to cafés in downtown Seoul, it felt like my eyes were getting a rest.

Go up one more step and you find seating that really lives up to Moonbird's role as a large Yangju café! There was a family of about 8 people all sitting around together drinking coffee, and it made me smile haha. I don't think I've seen another large café go this far to accommodate groups — a clear strength for Moonbird.

There wasn't a seat left for me, so I sat right in front of the window. I started at a table but moved to the sofa, and the view felt almost like Jeju Island — I got sleepy without realizing it. I think I actually dozed off for about 15 minutes. If you visit, try to grab this very front spot!

Iced americano, Jeju citrus ade and fig cream cake

Here's what we ordered: iced americano, Jeju cheonggyul (green citrus) ade, and fig cream cake. The coffee, which I wasn't expecting much from, was actually tasty, and the citrus ade was nicely refreshing. With it being fig season, the moist cake paired really well with the coffee. I think I'll come back on a nicer day when I want a change of scenery. If you happen to be in Yangju, it's worth a visit!
