Suwon all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu: Pyeonbaek Hoegwan

In short

Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Cheoncheon Branch is an all-you-can-eat restaurant in Cheoncheon-dong, Suwon, serving cypress steam dishes, shabu-shabu, Vietnamese wraps, and a salad bar. I visited with my family for a reserved 100-minute meal; the variety was enjoyable, though I wanted the tteokbokki to be sweeter and spicier.

I visited Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Cheoncheon Branch (편백회관 천천점) in the central shopping district of Cheoncheon-dong, Suwon, with my mother and younger siblings. It is an all-you-can-eat restaurant where you can start with a cypress steam dish, then have shabu-shabu and Vietnamese wraps, along with food from the salad bar.

Where is Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Cheoncheon Branch, and is parking available?

The restaurant is on the eighth floor of a building near the center of Cheoncheon-dong’s central shopping district. The address is 11-7 Manseok-ro 19beon-gil, Jangan-gu, Suwon.

I was able to park in the building basement. However, there was a notice that some parking spaces could only be used until 1 p.m., so you need to check the time restrictions. We also had to write down our license plate number and the restaurant we were visiting. The notice said that the parking discount would not apply if the space was used contrary to the instructions. It would be a good idea to read the on-site guidance before going upstairs after parking.

When you go up to the eighth floor, you can see the restaurant entrance. There is a separate sink on the right, which I used conveniently before entering.

At the time of my visit, there was also a notice saying that regular use would be difficult from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on September 4, 2026, because the restaurant had been rented for a senior citizens’ event in Jeongja 3-dong. We had made a reservation, so tableware had already been set on our table.

What are the weekday lunch price and dining time?

The weekday lunch price was ₩17,900 when I visited. I think there was an additional ₩1,000 depending on the broth choice, but I did not confirm exactly which broths it applied to.

The dining time was 100 minutes. You first eat the cypress steam dish, then call a staff member to remove the steamer and bring shabu-shabu broth. When the staff member brought the cypress steam dish, they told us to set a timer. There was a stopwatch on the table, making it easy to check the cooking time.

What was available at the salad bar?

The salad bar in the center of the restaurant had meat, broths, and ingredients for Vietnamese wraps. Nearby, shabu-shabu vegetables were neatly arranged, so I could take whatever suited me.

On the opposite side were tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), stir-fried pork and vegetables, flower buns, boneless fried chicken, and assorted fried foods. Watermelon, a lettuce salad, and a vinegar-dressed salad were also available. I liked that the selection included foods I naturally wanted to reach for.

There was also lemon water and Americano coffee on one side. They looked suitable to have before or after the meal.

How did I eat the cypress steam dish served first?

While the cypress steam dish was cooking, I brought ingredients for Vietnamese wraps and food from the salad bar. By the time I returned with the food, the timer soon went off, so the wait did not feel very long.

The bean sprouts, meat, and vegetables were cooked just right. I ate some as they were and dipped some into sauces according to my preference.

What was good at the salad bar, and what fell short?

I got soba because I wanted a broth with savory depth. Adding daikon, green onion, and wasabi made it better. The vinegar-dressed squid salad was also good for whetting my appetite.

Side dishes selected from the salad bar

At first I did not reach for the tteokbokki because the rice cakes looked like garaetteok, but when I tried it, the rice cakes were soft and the sauce was decent. I did wish it had a little more sweetness and heat, but it was tastier than expected, so I ate four rice cakes.

I wrapped the stir-fried pork and vegetables in flower buns. It was better than expected, so I brought a little more later. The fried sweet potato and seaweed rolls were crisp, and they went well dipped in the tteokbokki sauce. The boneless fried chicken had tasty batter, so I ate some plain and some with the sauce.

Which shabu-shabu broths and meat did we choose?

I saw on the tablet that the cypress steam dish could also be refilled. However, my family seemed unlikely to want to wait for it to cook again, so we moved straight on to shabu-shabu.

We chose a clear broth and a spicy broth. There seemed to be other broths too, but I did not record their exact types. We put fish cake skewers into the spicy broth first.

We brought as much meat and as many vegetables as we wanted from the salad bar and cooked them in the broth. I personally prefer pork neck to pork belly, and because there was no noticeable smell, I kept eating it. I also liked the combination of bean sprouts and enoki mushrooms.

Shabu-shabu with vegetables and meat

I removed the skewers from the fish cakes and boiled them so they could cook all the way through. Shabu-shabu suited my taste better with plenty of sauce. I was not sure whether the sauce was ponzu or soy sauce.

How was it for sharing several dishes with family?

My mother and younger siblings started eating the Vietnamese wraps right away. I kept reaching for other foods, so I put them off until the end, when I finally made and ate one. It was delicious.

The watermelon was sweet on the day we visited, so I brought it several times. However, I did not know how long watermelon would continue to be offered.

Next to the counter, the owner was selling solid wood cutting boards they had made themselves, so I took a look. On the way out, I put ₩500 into a candy vending machine and got two candies.

I could not eat as much as I had expected, but I enjoyed trying several dishes, from the cypress steam dish to shabu-shabu and Vietnamese wraps. It was a convenient setup for families, with everyone able to choose what they wanted and fruit and coffee available in the same place.
