Ansan butcher shop: raw beef tartare and hanwoo for pension BBQ
In short
Morakmorak Home & Cook is a butcher shop and easy-meal store in the basement of an apartment complex in Sangnok-gu, Ansan. The writer bought the signature yukhoe (raw beef tartare, ₩9,900) and hanwoo cow flower sirloin to take to a pension barbecue, and even though the beef was only grade 2, it wasn't tough at all, while the yukhoe was well-seasoned and perfect as a drinking snack. Single-portion packaging and good prices make it a place worth revisiting.

This is Sulsulzzi. I went to a pension a while back, and while wondering what to eat, I stopped by a butcher shop and picked up a bunch of stuff — nothing beats meat on a trip, haha. This is Ansan butcher shop Morakmorak Home & Cook.

Basement level of an apartment complex, plenty of parking
This place is located inside an apartment complex, and there was more parking than I expected. I almost got lost but found my way down to the basement level okay.

True to the name Morakmorak Home & Cook, it wasn't just a butcher shop selling raw meat — they also sold products you can easily cook at home.
The owner wasn't around at first, so I was wondering what to do, but there was a phone number posted at the register, so I called. Once I paid, I noticed there was also a bell beside it — seems like pressing it brings someone running, haha.

Single-portion packaging that's easy for one-person households
While waiting for the owner, I looked around inside, and there were so many different kinds of meat.

Hanwoo assorted grill sets, flower sirloin, and more were packaged in portions that even a single-person household could finish. We came looking for food for a pension trip, and when you go on a trip, don't you usually want a variety of foods rather than just one type of meat? This was perfect for that.

Not just beef — brisket and beef short rib slices were also stacked neatly.

An easy-meal corner with even cutlets and soups
There were pork cutlets and fish cutlets you could just pop in an air fryer or microwave,

and a variety of soups too, like seolleongtang (ox bone soup), sujigomtang (beef tendon soup), and galbitang (short rib soup). The portions were sized for one or two servings, so you could choose without worrying about leftovers, haha.
There was also a wide variety of hanwoo brisket and pork cuts that all looked fresh, so I had a hard time deciding what to buy.

Signature yukhoe at ₩9,900
Looking at another display case, there was a ton of yukhoe (raw beef tartare)! It was labeled as Morakmorak's signature yukhoe, and can you see how good the price is? ₩9,900. Plus it already comes with minced garlic. The yukhoe itself was already seasoned, so the owner said it would taste great with just a bit of sesame oil drizzled on top, haha.

Right next to it was boneless chicken feet, and I debated all the way to the end whether to grill chicken feet on the charcoal fire, but ended up picking the beef and yukhoe.

Next to that was seasoned galbi (short ribs), with meat and vegetables packed together in the sauce, which looked convenient to just take home and cook as is. With these already-prepped and seasoned products available, it was a good option not just for grilling meat yourself but also when you want to prepare a simple meal quickly, haha.

So many types of meat, right? Dak-galbi (spicy stir-fried chicken), jeyuk-bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork), sirloin bulgogi and more, all at good prices, so it's a place you can shop at without feeling burdened.

I even looked at the tteokgalbi (short rib patties) before picking my food.

This is the yukhoe and the hanwoo cow flower sirloin.
Signature yukhoe + flower sirloin

Grilling hanwoo cow flower sirloin at the pension
Ta-da, we arrived at the pension. They even gave us green onion shreds and sesame sauce as a service, so we enjoyed the meat deliciously!

Getting everything ready one by one. Looks so good, right!! It had been a while since we went to a pension, so my expectations were through the roof.
And those cats were seriously so cute — they knew we were grilling meat and were lined up waiting, lol.
Honestly, since the hanwoo was grade 2, I was really worried it might be tough. Since I run a blog, I end up eating a lot of beef, including plenty of 1++ grade, so I was even more worried, but wow, it was genuinely delicious!! Not tough at all, and my friend said it was so good too..!!

Sure, my friend grilled it well, but the meat quality has to be good to begin with, and it really was delicious. I want to buy it again!!

And the yukhoe truly deserves its spot as the signature menu... it's amazing. Insane, perfect drinking snack, great price too, and the seasoning was mixed in so well that I lost track of how much I drank that night — haha, it was the best.
The owner of Ansan butcher shop Morakmorak Home & Cook was so kind, and overall, with portions right for single-person households and good prices, it's a place I'd want to visit again. It's delicious too, so I highly recommend it — you won't regret a visit!
