Ansan butcher shop: Korean pork ribs for Chuseok jjim, 3.77kg
In short
Morakmorak Home & Cook is a butcher shop in the basement of Star Plaza in Seongpo-dong, Ansan, selling water-aged meat, Korean beef and pork, and Ansan meal kits. Ahead of Chuseok, the writer bought 3.77kg of pork ribs for braising at ₩1,850 per 100g, totaling ₩69,740, plus free shredded scallions and sauce. The meat was fresh, not frozen, with vivid color and little fat, so her mom wanted to come back.

My mom said she'd make braised pork ribs for Chuseok, so I went to an Ansan butcher shop with lots of good reviews. They carry water-aged meat, meal kits, Korean pork and beef — and the meat quality was great, so I picked out some good stuff.

Morakmorak Home & Cook basics and parking
- Address: 513 Hwarang-ro, Sangnok-gu, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do, basement of Star Plaza
- Hours: Daily 09:30–20:30
- Closed on Lunar New Year and Chuseok day
- Parking: available

It's on the basement level of Star Plaza in Seongpo-dong, so I parked in Star Plaza's outdoor lot. Parking's free for up to 4 hours, so it's great to combine buying meat with a meal and some shopping at Star Plaza. If you tell them you've parked after buying meat, they'll register your parking time for you.
Store atmosphere and payment methods

This Ansan butcher shop caught my eye from far away with its big fridges. It's a Seongpo-dong butcher shop that feels like it's been settled into Star Plaza for a long time, so it was easy to browse without pressure. They accept both Onnuri gift certificates and Ansan's local Daon Card.

How much do the Ansan meal kits cost?
First I checked out the fridges. On one side there were several Ansan meal kits. My mom said how convenient things have gotten these days, and the prices were cheap too.
- Seolleongtang (ox bone soup) ₩7,900
- Sgt (beef tendon soup) ₩7,900
- Galbitang (short rib soup) ₩12,000

- Big shabu-shabu ₩2,650/100g
- Brisket point ₩2,800/100g
- Beef short plate ₩1,950/100g
- Thin-sliced pork belly ₩2,500/100g
Even if the cut you want isn't in the fridge, just tell the owner and they'll bring it out from the back.

Ansan Korean beef prices by cut
There's Korean beef (hanwoo) too. Since it's a butcher shop, everything's nice and red, haha. The cuts and prices they carry are all clearly labeled.
- Hanwoo brisket ₩4,900/100g
- Hanwoo brisket point ₩8,900/100g
- Hanwoo flower sirloin ₩11,000/100g
- Hanwoo tenderloin ₩16,500/100g
They said prices went up a bit lately due to high demand ahead of Chuseok. So buying early instead of during Chuseok week is cheaper.

Pork assorted grill pack and handmade tteokgalbi
The assorted pork grill pack — pork jowl, cheek meat, rib belly, gabrisal, and neck — is ₩19,800 per pack. Handmade beef and pork tteokgalbi (short rib patties) are ₩2,500 per pack, currently on a buy-4-get-1 promotion.
At this Ansan butcher shop, you can check the meat and prices for yourself. They also have various cuts like shank, shredded brisket, and beef tendon, with plenty of options beyond grilling — braising, bulgogi, and more.

Buying pork ribs for Chuseok braising
I asked if they had pork ribs for braising to eat over Chuseok, and they brought some out from the back. I planned to check the condition first before deciding, but it looked good enough that I bought it right away.

My mom usually buys from a neighborhood butcher shop, but she said this meat was much better quality. So I bought 2kg first, then got more.
They sliced it thick for me~ My mom went home, trimmed off the fat, scored it, and cut it into smaller pieces once more.

Since it was fresh meat and not frozen, the color was vivid and everything looked fresh overall. The domestic pork ribs I bought that day were ₩1,850 per 100g. I paid ₩69,740 total for 3.77kg.

The owner threw in shredded scallions and meat sauce too. With this much, it seems like there'll be enough for the whole family to make braised pork ribs even when my sister comes home for Chuseok.

Prepping at home and final thoughts
Once we got home, my mom started prepping right away, saying she'd make the seasoning sauce a few days later~ Since there wasn't much fat and the color was vivid, my mom said the meat here was good and that we should buy it again next time.
If you're looking for fresh meat near Seongpo-dong in Ansan, Morakmorak Home & Cook is worth a visit. They carry everything from Korean beef to pork, plus Ansan meal kits for an easy meal. I think our whole family is going to enjoy the braised pork ribs made from the pork ribs I bought at this Ansan butcher shop for Chuseok.
