Mild-marinade pork galbi 3 min from Uijeongbu Station: Manpo Galbi
In short
Manpo Galbi Uijeongbu Main Branch is a charcoal-grilled pork galbi restaurant a 3-minute walk from the light rail at Uijeongbu Station in Gyeonggi. Two servings of handmade marinated pork galbi cost 16,000 won, served here with 6,000-won chadol doenjang sulbap (brisket and soybean-paste rice) and one free handmade Hamhung naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) per person, ordered as one chilled-broth and one spicy mixed bowl and shared half and half. The marinade at Manpo Galbi is gentle rather than punchy, so it disappoints anyone after bold flavour but suits family meals and older diners well.

Today I visited Manpo Galbi Uijeongbu Branch, located near the Uijeongbu light rail and Line 1 Uijeongbu Station! It's famous around Uijeongbu as a pork galbi (marinated pork ribs) spot, so it's always packed with people and lots of older customers too — I was curious what the fuss was about. Bottom line: they give you free naengmyeon and the side dishes were satisfying too! There are plenty of reasons to recommend this place especially if you're looking for somewhere for a family meal or a work dinner. They've got private rooms and group seating, so it seemed like a lot of people come in groups.
How to walk 3 minutes from Uijeongbu Station to Manpo Galbi, and is there parking?
Manpo Galbi Uijeongbu Branch is about a 3-minute walk from the light rail Uijeongbu Station, and around 5 minutes from Line 1 Uijeongbu Station too, so accessibility is really good. There's parking space in front of and behind the restaurant, so driving there works fine! If there's no spot available, apparently you'll need to use a nearby public parking lot, though ㅠㅠ
The tables were spaced widely apart and ventilation was good, so it didn't have that stuffy feeling you often get at BBQ places, and there were a lot of families around too!!! They seem to manage the smoke pretty well!!

What we ordered at Manpo Galbi and what it cost
- Handmade marinated pork galbi ₩16,000 (2 servings)
- Chadol doenjang sulbap ₩6,000
- Handmade Hamhung spicy mixed/water naengmyeon — free
- Drinks ₩2,000

Manpo Galbi's free side dishes, including yukhoe (raw beef tartare)
Before the meat arrives, the side dishes are set out first, and the spread was pretty solid! I filled up just eating the banchan (side dishes).. Japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), gungchae namul (stir-fried greens), potato salad, mushroom fritters — each one was neatly made, and I was especially impressed that yukhoe came as a standard side.
Usually the side dishes at galbi places are pretty ordinary, but here I kept reaching for them and ended up full.. The yukhoe was better than I expected, and the japchae and salad were tasty too haha.

Is the handmade marinated pork galbi sweet or strong?
Once the charcoal comes out, you start grilling right away! The charcoal galbi's marinade isn't strong at all!!
I like bold flavors so it was a bit disappointing for me, but for people who don't like heavy marinade on their pork galbi, this would be perfect! I think that's probably why so many older folks eat here — it felt mild rather than spicy or intense, and the meat cuts were on the thick side~~

It's good with rice, but wrapping it in lettuce felt even more satisfying. If you're looking for pork galbi in Uijeongbu, this is the first dish I'd recommend.

The free Hamhung naengmyeon: chilled broth and spicy mixed, half and half
For the free Hamhung naengmyeon, I definitely recommend the spicy mixed version! This was actually my favorite part. At Manpo Galbi, each person gets one free handmade Hamhung naengmyeon. You can choose between water-based (mul-naengmyeon) or spicy mixed (bibim-naengmyeon) — I always go with bibim when eating galbi.
The sweet-and-spicy sauce pairs so well with the galbi that I like eating it alongside the meat like a main dish rather than dessert. Since there were two of us, we each ordered one of each type and split them half and half~!
Naengmyeon is basically essential with grilled meat, and getting it for free really boosted my overall satisfaction. I think that's part of why this place is so busy — I even saw a few soldiers come in!!!

Why the 6,000-won chadol doenjang sulbap is worth ordering
Chadol doenjang sulbap, an absolute must-order….

It's a rice dish a bit richer than regular doenjang jjigae, with plenty of chadol (beef brisket) mixed in, so it's great to eat alongside everything — ugh, so good. The doenjang sulbap was really rich and delicious, savory and salty, a great combo with the galbi. We ate so well and ended up completely full.
