If you're looking for a good gukbap (soup with rice) restaurant in Uijeongbu or a place to eat solo in Nokyang-dong, this one's worth stopping by.

What is Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch like for eating alone?

Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch is bigger and cleaner than I expected, so eating alone here felt totally comfortable. Gukbap places sometimes come to mind as a bit old and worn, but this one was neatly kept throughout. When I visited there were quite a lot of customers too, so the whole place had a lively vibe.

They're also running an opening event right now, so we even got a free chapssal sundae (glutinous rice blood sausage) service, haha.

Self-bar side dishes and coffee after the meal

Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch has a separate self-bar. While waiting for the food, I looked around the store and tried out the self-bar.

With the self-bar set up separately, you can easily grab whatever side dishes you need or want extra of. I take kkakdugi (radish kimchi) super seriously at any gukbap place, and this one passed the test — it was tasty, haha!

And after finishing the meal, there were simple snacks and coffee ready to go, so I could wrap things up with a cup of coffee after eating too. I even took one with me on the way out.

Sundaeguk vs pork gukbap vs intestine gukbap: what's the difference?

We ordered three things at Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch: sundaeguk, pork gukbap, and intestine gukbap. Sundaeguk and pork gukbap were each ₩11,000. There were plenty of other menu items, but this milky white broth was calling my name 😋

Sundaeguk, 11,000 won

First, sundaeguk — the dish that comes to mind first when you think gukbap — let you enjoy warm broth and sundae (blood sausage) together for a hearty meal. The sundae was plump and delicious too.

Pork gukbap, 11,000 won

Pork gukbap was a good pick when you want to focus on the pork without the sundae. The meat was generous too, easy to eat.

Intestine gukbap, 11,000 won

Intestine gukbap is worth choosing if you like the distinctive texture and flavor of intestines. It also seemed to have more solid ingredients — even one spoonful scooped up a whole handful, haha.

Ordering all three together meant everyone could pick according to their own taste. Gukbap really is best as a filling meal when you mix the rice right into the warm broth.

We also tried the complimentary chapssal sundae, and it felt even more filling than just ordering gukbap alone since we had extra to go with it.
