Gangnam Station jazz bar 4pm show: white lasagna at Flat Nine

I went to Flat Nine 🎷 wanting a dinner date with a special atmosphere. It's a spot near Gangnam Station where you can enjoy great food and a live jazz show together, so it's a good fit for anyone looking for a Gangnam Station date spot.

Usually our dates are just a meal or a café, but this time we did something a little different — course dining with a jazz performance at Flat Nine, a Gangnam Station restaurant-bar.

Flat Nine's location and how to get there

It's a 5-minute walk from Gangnam Station Exit 10. You walk into the K-Tower building and take the elevator up to the 5th floor. At the entrance there's a lineup posted. We were there for the 4pm slot, and it said 'Jackie Kim Trio.'

Right off the elevator there was a sheet with the performance schedule, so I snapped a photo.

What are the seats like inside?

The interior of Flat Nine was spacious. The front area was set up for comfortable viewing of the show, and the back had 4-person tables. It seemed great for a couple watching jazz, and just as good for a group coming to see a show together.

There's also a bar table, which looked like a nice option for solo visitors. The upscale interior had us in a good mood even before the show started.

Flat Nine is a space where you can enjoy a meal and drinks while watching live jazz. We went for the 4pm first show. The Jackie Kim Trio took the stage first, and hearing it live really made me focus on the music. The show ran in two sets, and the 4pm slot went until 5:50pm.

The performance fee was ₩15,000 per person. Jazz bars can feel expensive and reserved for special occasions, but after actually seeing the show and having a meal together, it felt more affordable than I expected. It seemed especially nice for couples who want to chat quietly while enjoying music.

What's in the ₩39,000 classic course

There were two of us, so we ordered the ₩39,000 classic course. The main dish was Jeju black pork tenderloin steak. Getting a full course meal alongside a jazz performance for ₩39,000 felt like pretty good value to me. Ordering a course instead of individual dishes also kept a nice rhythm to the meal, which was great for slowly enjoying food and music together on a date.

Amuse-bouche potato dish

It came out with the pre-meal bread, and it was crispy outside and soft inside — delicious. Loved the crunchy texture and flavor.

Aperitif and pre-meal bread

The aperitif had a lovely raspberry aroma. You can choose alcoholic or non-alcoholic. The fragrant, sweet drink was easy to enjoy.

The pre-meal bread was warm and soft. Dipping it in balsamic vinegar and olive oil made it even better.

Seasonal salad with Korean melon and squid

The salad had Korean melon and hanchi (spear squid) in it — a combination I'd never had before. The crisp texture paired with the chewy squid was unusual and really good.

Jackie Kim Trio live jazz performance

At 4pm sharp, the Jackie Kim Trio performance began. It was piano, bass, and vocals, and the singer's voice was amazing — the smooth jazz really set the mood.

We recorded some video of the show too. We were having so much fun watching the performance we lost track of time. Slowly savoring each dish and having the next course arrive right on cue — this was pure healing, jazz therapy, kind of night.

White lasagna and Jeju black pork tenderloin steak

Flat Nine is well known as a jazz bar, but apparently it's also popular as a Gangnam Station pasta restaurant. The lasagna was seriously delicious. Loaded with sauce and piled high with cheese.

One bite in and I was practically applauding. So good.

The Jeju black pork tenderloin steak came with king oyster mushrooms and baby potatoes as sides, which paired nicely, and the tenderloin itself was really tender.

I usually eat beef steak, but after trying pork steak a few times at other places and liking it, I've been branching out more. This one had a soft texture and a clean, mild flavor.

Ordering a course instead of individual dishes kept a nice rhythm to the meal, and it was great for slowly enjoying food and the performance together on a date. I especially liked that Jeju black pork tenderloin steak was the main. Getting a full jazz show plus course meal in one place seems to be Flat Nine's biggest strength.

Chocolate cake for dessert

The chocolate cake came out last. We wrapped up the jazz show while enjoying the cake. Sweet, delicious chocolate cake.

How was it as a Gangnam Station date course?

When you're looking for a date spot near Gangnam Station, the options usually narrow down to restaurants, bars, or cafés — but Flat Nine is a great choice when you want something a bit different. Sitting together over a meal while listening to live jazz really did feel different from an ordinary dinner.

Evening visits are nice too, but going for the 4pm first show like we did means you can watch the performance, eat, and still head off for a second date spot around Gangnam Station afterward. I'd recommend it to anyone who cares about atmosphere on a date, or anyone looking for a Gangnam Station restaurant-bar for an anniversary or special occasion.
