Solo Friday dinner using the QR katsu-eating guide in Yeonnam

I had something come up in Hongdae after ages, so I had to eat—and you know me, I only treat delicious food as a real meal 👀 hahaha! Here's my review after eating katsu happily!!

My visit was Friday at 6pm.

Inside it felt like a home, with regular tables and a table for solo diners, so it was a comfortable vibe haha.

There were various sauces and cups laid out up front, plus a Japanese doll, so it was fun to look around!

And even a cute fan haha. I came to eat alone, but these little thoughtful touches kept it from feeling dull haha, I liked it!

True to its name, pork cutlet is the star, but there's also donburi and soba, so I ended up torn between choices haha.

I scanned the QR code on the kiosk for 'how to eat katsu deliciously,' and the cute Katsu Monster character walks you through the order and method to eat it >< I love dipping in salt the most, so I ate it with salt+chili flakes, then dipped in sauce when I wanted a change of pace ><

The fillet katsu—both the portion and thickness surprised me

What I ordered was the fillet katsu—wow, so generous +_+ I've never seen a katsu place be this generous! I came because it's supposedly a Yeonnam-dong must-visit, and well~ my choices are always right...♥

It wasn't just a big portion—the meat itself was really thick ♥♥ Since the breading was thin, the meat flavor came through even more. Ugh, seeing this makes me want more already..?? Also the rice had furikake sprinkled on it, so it was nicely salty and really delicious haha.

I picked the miso soup with dried radish greens, and it even had lean meat mixed in?! The owner is really generous, so nice haha. And for dessert I had something like a rice cracker, which honestly felt a bit like human kibble... hahaha. Even though I was already stuffed, I still had room for it;;

Overall thoughts

A great spot for dates or coming with friends! The vibe is comfortable for solo dining too, so it's easy to visit without pressure. A must-visit when you're craving thick, crispy pork cutlet! Perfect as a Hongdae must-visit, a Yeonnam-dong must-visit! When you're craving Japanese food, you have to come to Katsu Monster—totally recommend!!!!!
