Two-story tonkatsu restaurant near Songjeong Beach, Busan: Hana

Hana Donkatsu is the tonkatsu place my partner and I trusted and ate at all the time back in our student days. Recently, while driving around Songjeong and Gijang, we stopped by Hana Donkatsu Songjeong Beach Branch. Unlike every other Hana Donkatsu I'd been to before, the interior here was so pretty — great vibe, close to Songjeong Beach, easy parking, and best of all, the cutlet was crispy and so delicious. Let me walk you through everything, from the inside to the menu, haha.

Where is Hana Donkatsu Songjeong Beach Branch, and its hours and parking

Hana Donkatsu Songjeong Beach Branch is located at 28 Songjeonggwanghogol-ro, 1F, Haeundae-gu, Busan. Hours are 11:00–21:00, closed every Tuesday, with a break time from 15:00–17:00 and last order at 20:20.

Parking is available right in front of the store and along the street. We visited on a weekday evening and parked right in front.

Two floors: couple bar seats on 1F, large tables on 2F

Surprisingly, the inside of Hana Donkatsu Songjeong Beach Branch is a two-story layout. On the first floor there are window seats and couple bar-style seating. Isn't it so pretty?

Now let's head up to the second floor. Even the stairway up has such a nice atmosphere — totally my taste 🫶🏻

As soon as you come up, there's water, wet wipes, and aprons on the left. Utensils come out with the food, so no need to grab those.

The second floor seems to have more seats. The tables are all nice and big too.

There are baby chairs too, so it seems like a good spot for families.

What we ordered at Hana Donkatsu: tenderloin and soba, kimchi cheese nabe, curry croquette

Here's the menu. We ordered the tenderloin + soba, kimchi cheese nabe, and curry croquette. In the past when we came to Hana Donkatsu we'd usually order the cheese roll katsu with ham and cheddar plus kimchi cheese nabe, but this location doesn't have the cheese roll katsu. Still, since we wanted something to eat with soba (buckwheat noodles) today, we went with the tenderloin.

The tenderloin and soba set comes without rice

Here's the tenderloin + soba. Just so you know before ordering, this set doesn't come with rice on the side. These days a lot of tenderloin tonkatsu is round-shaped and undercooked, which can get greasy and heavy the more you eat—

—but sometimes a fully cooked cutlet like this is actually even more delicious. It might look a bit dry looking at it, but it's really tender, haha. The combo with soba is such a foolproof pairing, so we ate it up happily.

Kimchi cheese nabe comes with rice and clear broth

This is the kimchi cheese nabe, our regular order at Hana Donkatsu. The kimchi is especially good. It looked like a small portion, but by the time we finished we were completely full. This one comes with rice and a clear soup (jangguk) on the side.

Curry croquette vs. potato croquette: how it tastes

And this is the curry croquette. If you like curry, you have to try this one. It has a different charm from potato croquette. Whenever we eat tonkatsu, by the time we're near the end we get sick of it and always order a cola to go with it, so of course we ordered cola again today too — but with the soba and kimchi nabe there, there wasn't even a moment to get tired of it, it just kept going down easily. That's how good it was, haha. And it also means the combo of dishes we ordered today worked really well together!

The place is so pretty, the food is delicious, and we had such a great meal.
