Yeouido tteokbokki restaurant takeaway after 30 minutes: Hyeonseonine

Hyeonseonine is a popular Yongsan restaurant that has been featured on many shows and visited by plenty of celebrities. I wanted to share my own visit to Hyeonseonine at IFC Mall, which has lately become a popular tteokbokki spot near Yeouido Station and would also make a nice date stop before or after a Han River cruise.

Hyeonseonine IFC Mall Branch information

• Location: IFC Mall B2, 10 Gukjegeumyung-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. It is along the underground passage from the subway station toward The Hyundai.
• Hours: weekdays 11:00–21:00; weekends from 12:00 / last order 20:40
• Reservations are not available.
• Parking is available. If you also have plans at The Hyundai, using the department store parking lot may be a good option.

Finding it from Yeouido Station and the seating

Get off at Yeouido Station and keep walking along the underground passage toward The Hyundai, and you will find Hyeonseonine IFC Mall Branch on the left. It was crowded, as you would expect from a popular spot, which actually made it easier to find.

The brand’s signature cute girl character immediately caught my eye. It felt like a place with a different charm from Hyeonseonine’s original Yongsan branch.

There are both outdoor and indoor tables. Since I visited slightly outside peak mealtime, there were seats available. If you do not like crowds, it may be worth visiting outside meal hours.

You can order right away at the self-service kiosk by the entrance. If the wait for dining in is long because the restaurant is busy, takeaway is a good option.

Takeaway takes within about 30 minutes, and everything is packaged neatly, so keep that in mind when you visit.

Waiting for a takeaway order and choosing mild spice

I placed a takeaway order at Hyeonseonine Centro. Takeaway and dine-in orders have different queue numbers, so it is best to wait in the takeaway-only waiting area.

You can choose the spice level for Hyeonseonine tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes). Since my child likes it and we were eating together, I ordered the mild version. Hyeonseonine tteokbokki has plenty of appeal when it is spicy too, so that is worth trying as well.

Because I visited outside mealtime, the takeaway took about 20–25 minutes. Seeing it come out in such clean packaging made it feel even easier to trust for takeaway.

Is the takeaway packaging careful?

YES!!! It was my first time getting takeaway from Hyeonseonine, and most containers had snug-fitting lids and were packed hygienically, so I could enjoy it without worrying about sauce leaking.

Fried items and sundae (Korean blood sausage) can easily turn soggy if they are packaged poorly. The IFC branch packaging took that into account, so it was not only tidy but also enjoyable and tasty once I got home.

Tteokbokki and fried-item texture 30 minutes after takeaway

One thing I always feel about Hyeonseonine is that it gets the basics right, including its tteokbokki. These wheat-flour rice cakes have a wonderfully chewy, bouncy texture, and even about 30 minutes after takeaway, they were still warm and satisfyingly chewy.

Personally, it is really best eaten immediately in the restaurant, but its distinctive flavor still came through well as takeaway. The sauce had soaked in more, and above all, the rice cakes had not gone mushy—they were soft and easy to enjoy.

I also dipped the fried items and sundae I had ordered into the tteokbokki sauce. It was nice to be able to enjoy them comfortably at home.

Fried items are honestly at their crispiest when eaten immediately in the restaurant, but even as takeaway, there was still some crunch left, which was nice.

Tip for keeping takeaway fried items crisp

There was enough crispness left to eat them right away, but running them in an air fryer for about 3–4 minutes brings them back to restaurant quality, so keep that in mind.

The sundae came packaged with offal. It was a familiar flavor, which somehow made it even more appetizing and enjoyable.

Hyeonseonine is popular enough that it is fun to eat in and feel the buzz firsthand, but the takeaway is also clean and hygienic, and the location is very accessible. If you are looking for tasty tteokbokki, Hyeonseonine IFC Mall Branch is worth visiting.
