Dangsan Station offal BBQ with Kirin Ichiban draft: Chodaechang
In short
Chodaechang Dangsan Station is a charcoal-grilled Korean beef gopchang and daechang restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Olive Young building in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, a 5-minute walk from Exit 11 of Dangsan Station. Two servings of Korean beef gopchang (small intestine) and daechang (large intestine) were grilled from start to finish by the staff and eaten with spicy doenjang rice (soybean paste rice soup) and Kirin Ichiban draft beer, and the restaurant is corkage-free with a 10% time-sale discount on Naver Reservation. Between the draft beer and the free corkage, Chodaechang is an easy recommendation for grilled offal near Dangsan Station.

I was craving daechang (large intestine) and gopchang (small intestine) so badly this weekend that I went looking around and ended up at Chodaechang Dangsan Station. Right in front of Dangsan Station so super accessible, and corkage-free on top of that — total value restaurant 🍷 We had gopchang, daechang, doenjang rice with alcohol, and Kirin draft beer... and to cut to the conclusion, everything was delicious and I came back super satisfied. Here's my honest review >.<

Which Dangsan Station exit? Walking route to Chodaechang

📍 It's really accessible — just a 5-minute walk from Exit 11 of Dangsan Station! It's on the 2nd floor of the Olive Young building, so you can find it quickly right after coming out of the station~

There was a lot of info written on the standing sign near the entrance. Corkage-free stood out, and they were also running a 10% time-sale discount for Naver Reservations during certain hours 😳 If you reserve on Naver, you get one extra corkage bottle, so two bottles total for free... I have to do that next time for sure.
You'd feel a bit disappointed not knowing this and just showing up, so ✔️ if you're planning to visit Chodaechang Dangsan Station, I recommend making a Naver Reservation!!!

What the inside of Chodaechang Dangsan Station looks like

Coming inside, it was cleaner and more spacious than I expected, and the atmosphere was pretty good too~
Instead of the usual noisy, bustling feel of a gopchang restaurant, it had a tidy, comfortable vibe, so it seemed good for dates, gatherings, or company dinners too!
What we ordered: Korean beef gopchang, daechang and spicy doenjang rice

After debating what to order, we went with 2 servings of meat + a rice dish 🤭 Korean beef gopchang, Korean beef daechang, spicy doenjang rice.

After ordering, the charcoal came out first! Grilling gopchang on a hot stone plate is nice too, but grilling it over charcoal is genuinely tastier ㅜ.ㅜㅜ
When a bit of the fat renders off, it gets lighter but you still get that unique nutty gopchang flavor — you know how good that is!!!!

Side dishes at Chodaechang, refilled twice
The basic side dishes came out too... and honestly, all of them were so good? Lettuce salad / mayonnaise salad / pickled chili peppers. They weren't just something on the side — I kept reaching for them and even got refills ^_^ (yes, I'm the one who refilled twice ;; haha)
While eating gopchang, having these refreshing salads and pickled chilies in between to cleanse my palate was really nice.

Kirin Ichiban draft beer before the gopchang even hit the grill
The Kirin Ichiban draft beer 🍺 I ordered because I heard this place sells it at practically the lowest price around, so I got curious. Honestly the price was so low I didn't expect much, but wow ㅎㅎㅎ it was so good!!! That exact feeling of the first sip of draft beer in Japan ^_^ ;;
It went down clean and cold, and I'd already finished a glass before the gopchang even arrived ;;; Definitely order one, highly recommend.

Staff grill the charcoal gopchang and daechang for you
The daechang came out first, and the staff put it right on the grill for us. Just looking at it, plump and chunky, I was already sold ♥ Big and delicious ♥

The gopchang came out soon after and they put it on together! With daechang and gopchang on the grill together, the visual alone was so pretty... it really felt like a proper gopchang meal haha

At Chodaechang, the staff grill everything for you, so we just sat and waited while eating ㅋㅋ They watched the grilling state, flipped it, checked the doneness — it was really convenient.

They pulled the gopchang to the side of the grill once it was cooked to a good eating stage 🤩 Since they watched it all the way to the perfect eating point themselves, there was no worry about missing the timing — great haha (I'm terrible at cooking so I can't grill meat well myself…^_ㅠ)

Korean beef gopchang packed with gop, with cheongyang pepper as the kick
The gopchang was genuinely packed with gop (the fatty filling inside) ㄷㄷ You can see it in the photo too, right? ㄷㄷ
When I took a bite, I could really feel that gop, and it was so satisfying ♥ Gopchang really should be packed with gop like this haha

Dipping it in soy sauce made it tangy but also rich and so delicious ㅜ.ㅜ ✔️ Eating a cheongyang pepper (spicy green chili) with it is the kick!

Adding the sharp kick of cheongyang pepper to the rich, savory gopchang cut through the greasiness and it just kept me eating .. ♥

Plump Korean beef daechang, best with a cold draft beer
The staff kept grilling the daechang too. Daechang can sometimes lose too much fat if it's overcooked, but they cooked it just right !!! Really, meat should be grilled by the pros...!!!!

The daechang, cut into nice bite-sized pieces...♥ The visual was seriously amazing. That plump, chewy look unique to daechang was on full display haha
Dipping the daechang in soy sauce too — nom! Daechang has a much richer, more savory, oilier flavor than gopchang, and it goes so well with draft beer 🍺

I'd actually been wanting to try whole daechang after seeing it on Instagram lately... this wasn't fully whole daechang, but it had that plump, chunky feel of mini whole daechang, so I sort of got my wish >.< ㅋㅋㅋ
And honestly, I liked the daechang more than the gopchang! Maybe that's why the restaurant is named Chodaechang (초대창,
